Nice hotel near French Market area

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Overall our stay with this hotel was good. Room a bit small and no window, yet for how long we were in our room each day, it accommodated our needs for this trip. Loved PJ's Coffee down below, easy access to the Trolley and the buses. The staff did a wonderful job in getting us taxis as needed. Walking distance to Bourbon Street. The stay and prices were great!

Nice hotel, clean. Room was tiny.

The room was clean, but too small to even open up our suitcase anywhere but on the bed. The shower wouldn't hold a steady temperature of water through even one shower. The bathroom fan was so noisy, it drove us crazy while we were getting ready.

Within walking distance to main attractions

Pros: Convenient
Cons: Rooms
Location: Close to bourbon, main New Orleans attractions and restaurants.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was located within walking distance to Bourbon Street which was great for our group. We arrived early and were able to do early check-in. The hotel staff called within minutes to inform us that our room was available.

Would not stay here again.

Pros: Friendliness of the staff
Cons: Interior, rooms.
Location: It mentions that it is in the French Quarter and it is not. It is on the other side of Canal Street.
The staff was very friendly. But from the moment we stepped into the hotel it was not good. From the crowds in front of the hotel and the neon lights glowing through the lobby. Definitely not what we expected from a New Orleans Hotel. The room was claustrophobic and did not have a window. NO WINDOW!!! How can you not have a window in the room??? There was plastic protectors on the bed which made it very warm and noisy when ever you moved in bed. They charge you incidental fees for the safe and our safe did not work. We mentioned it to the hotel staff and nothing was resolved. In the middle of my shower the water turned ice cold.

Very accommodating staff

We spent three pleasant nights at the Royal St. Charles Hotel and left very pleased by the experience. First, the things that didn't quite work for us. Walking into the hotel, the lobby is noisy, with a coffee bar to one side and the main desk seemingly plopped out in the middle of the room. Rather than conveying a NOLA feeling, it just seemed strange. Like many hotels located in or near the French Quarter, our room was also a bit small. Finally, the water can go from freezing cold to scalding during the course of a single shower. All that said, there are many more things to commend this hotel. It is located next to the St. Charles Streetcar and within easy walking distance of many French Quarter attractions. The rooms are clean and functional while the staff were just GREAT, cheerfully providing answers to our questions and efficiently resolving a small plumbing problem in our room. I will gladly return to the Royal St. Charles Hotel when we next visit New Orleans.

Very convenient to French Quarter and St. Charles

Pros: upgraded our room to get us in when we arrived before assigned room was available.
Cons: larger bathrooms
Location: One block from French Quarter. Excellent sandwich shop adjacent. St. Charles streetcar just outside.
Had Jr. Suite. Bathroom was small. Everything else great.
