You get what you pay for....

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: A pool and hotel bar.
Location: Near everything, such as Harrah's, the Aquarium, Canal Street, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter.
This hotel is just off the beaten path but close to everything. The room was average with no real view of anything of interest. The beds were comfortable and clean, but the maid service was terrible and very unpredictable to say the least and forget about restocking the coffee and such. The desk staff were wonderful and very friendly. The area of the hotel is very seedy and dark with street beggars every 15 to 20 feet. The sound of the trolley just outside of our window squeaking all night was a little irritating and the walls were very thin. The other thing you might want to think about is the fact that there is NO pool, which would have been great after a long day of sweating and street grime. There is a $10 a day fee for the work out room and continental breakfast that was never served and no vending machines. The shower in the room varied from freezing cold to burn off your flesh hot and not much in between. The TV was minimal as far as channels to choose from since there is no cable box and most channels pixelated at will. But all in all I guess it wasn't too bad of a hotel, but with no pool it was lacking in relaxation after a long day of walking. So the old saying " You get what you pay for " applies to this hotel in every way...I suggest finding one with a pool and a hotel bar if possible....

Nice hotel close to the French Quarter

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: Close to the French Quarter Friendly staff who were helpful when a couple of minor issues came up.
Cons: For the price, not much.
Location: See above for comments.
We spent 6 days at the hotel and enjoyed our stay. It was withing walking distance of most to the French Quarter so it allowed us to venture out for a couple of hours, then return to a nice cool room to recover from the heat. Revisited many of the places we saw forty years ago, the last time we were in New Orleans. The only downside was the heat but that was not the hotel's fault. Would definitely use the same hotel if we ever went back when the weather was cooler.

Great Experience

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Great staff and excellent location
Location: It was a block away from the French Quarter. The trolley car stops right there for easy access to all parts of the city.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff was incredible and very attentive. They handle every request, gave great recommendations for places to go and see, and made sure that I had a ride back to the airport. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

STAY HERE- location! location!location!

Pros: Everything
Location: A block from Bourbon St. The streetcar runs directly in front of the hotel- it travels down St. Charles
Our trip was 8/31-9/2- the hotel is literally a block from the action of Bourbon St. Super clean. Great staff. Despite location, it was a pleasant, quiet stay. Coffee shop in the hotel- We got a steal on this hotel. Definitely recommend it.

A room without windows?

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The proximity to the French quarter.
Cons: The rooms are small, but the rooms without windows are claustrophobic and almost frightening, they should not be offered.
Location: It's right at the heart of New Orleans, at the entrance of the French Quarter.
After having received messages from Expedia asking me to indicate a preference between "room with a view, upper floors, larger bed... which one matters most to you" and having indicated the "room with a view", the hotel booked me a room without windows. There was a small opening with glass blocks to let some day light in, but nothing else and the room was very dark and narrow. I argued with the receptionist that Expedia had definitely promised a regular room with windows, and it took some effort to obtain it. I do not understand how a hotel of this type can offer rooms without windows. I was shocked.

Good location

The location was perfect, the room was clean, the staff was wonderful. You can not see out of the window in the hotel room. You can not open the window. I hated the window situation and for that reason I will never stay here again.

Great place to stay in New Orleans.

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Location, good value for the price, nicely updated. The bell captain was so helpful and friendly when we needed to store our bags for late pickup.
Cons: We were very satisfied with everything.
Location: Close to the French Quarter, easy access to the streetcar, neighborhood was quiet and clean.
We had a wonderful stay at the Royal St. Charles. The location is very good with easy access to the French Quarter, the St. Charles streetcar and other attractions. Our rooms were comfortable and quiet, and we liked having the little breakfast bar in the lobby.

Solid Location, Solid Price

In trying to stay near the French Quarter on a Friday night as 18 year olds, I don't believe we could have found a better option. The room was cozy but had all of the amenities we needed. Parking was inconvenient but that's the nature of the beast! Heavily reccomend.
