New Orleans Family Stay

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Suprisingly quiet for New Orleans.
Cons: We missed having a comfortable chair to sit in...only one desk chair in the room.
Location: Easy trip to the French Quarter or down town New Orleans, 10-15 min.
Our family stayed at the Super 8 New Orleans for one night. The location does look a bit sketchy, but they have security gaurds patroling the parking area which made us all feel safer. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is showing it's age, needs some renovations, but was clean.

Nice, old fashioned hotel

The room was clean and a great size, but the air conditioning unit was leaking the whole night and kept some of us awake. Great staff as well, very friendly!

Hotel with good location and attractive look

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: I like it's style referring to building in French Quarter.
Cons: Breakfast - only sweet things.
Location: Very good location, under I-10 and approx. 10-15 min from downtown.
I spend there 2 nights and I was satisfied. Good price.

On the wrong side of town

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: spend the extra to buy better coffee, and better parking
Location: located in a slummier side of town, had a lot of panhandlers and homeless in the neighborhood. Not much in that area
The hotel does not give you the sense that it is not a place to stay but looks can be deceiving! The parking is under your room and if someones car alarm goes off you hear it like you are standing in front of it and the walls are very hollow we heard the neighbors alarm clock and can tell you they pushed snooze 5 times. The bathrooms are very small normal motel bathrooms. None of the vending machines took dollar bills and most everything was sold out. Don't plan on drinking the coffee in the room it is more colored water it looked like tea instead of coffee.

Close to French Quarter and Bourbon

Posted Mar 12, 2014
We arrived earlier than expected so we called to see if we could possibly come in early. The guy told us 11 or 12 would b ok so that was really sweet of him. The hotel was really outdated but the bed was comfortable. We saw cigarette holes in the sheets and a washed dirt stain which grossed me out. The housekeeper came and only made the bed but didn't really straighten things up so that was odd. The area wasn't the best but it seemed safe to me. We pretty much used the room to sleep cuz we were out all day and night.

New Orleans!

Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: Just 10 min from the French Quartet, taxis are around $18
Cons: Ventilation
I went during Mardi Gras season which is always more expensive, the hotel offered us a really good price, free breakfast and it was pretty comfortable. Now, this is not a Westin, but for you pay, you get a great deal.

A little out of the way and older but well kept

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Very helpful staff. Good computer facilities. Room and bathroom clean. Bed no problem at all. Quiet.
Cons: No safe in the room. The included breakfast lacked variety ie no hot porridge or boiled eggs and little fruit
Location: This is a potential problem if you do not have a car and are hesitant to use public transportation. There are only three food outlet nearby.
I was there for a week and felt very comfortable inside and during daylight hours outside as well. Bus system is great with helpful drivers and fellow passengers. Half hour from heart of the city but that was no problem and this hotel was priced very well below those in the centre of the city.

Great value. A little ways from downtown but parking was included.
