Recommended: The decor & staff at the King's Hotel first class live up to the name. I have stayed at the hotel 3 times with my wife & child & never had a compaint. Location is conveniant for the train station, U bahn & the bus from the airport, but like most central station areas not too elegant. Breakfast is especially good. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: King's Hotel Center was a great location if you want to be close to the main train station. We also took 2 Grayline tours and we could walk to meet those. We had a room in the back so it was very quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable. We requested extra pillows and they brought them to us immediately. The breakfast was delicous. Recommended: Location, Location, Location! This is right across from the Lufthansa Airport to City bust stop. It is less than 30 meters from the Central Station. You can catch any metro or long distance trains from here. Unbelievably convenient. Old building, quite clean, average service, not the best surroundings, but the convenience of location trumps it all. I liked the exercise area. Restaurant is average. Price is relatively high for the amenities, but again you pay for the convenience. I would go back there again. See all reviews for this hotel

Not recommended: This is a true luxury hotel not really designed for ordinary folk. Our "economy" room was as far as you could walk from the elevator - no small distance in a huge building. Food was a problem. There was no breakfast included and food in the hotel and surrounding restaurants was priced in the astronomical range. Staff was civil, the room was better than average but nothing special. There are better places for the non-billionaire to have a special stay. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: We were three adults and the room first shown was not adequate, so the management moved us into their sister hotel, Hotel Tannenbaum into a much larger room, appropriate for 3, right around the corner. The location of the hotel was excellent, within easy walking distance to center city and a few steps from a U-Bahn station. The included breakfast was full of choices and was excellent. Overall, we were very satisfied. Two points to note. Internet connection was not possible from the room and the "desk clerk" for both hotels is located in the lobby of the Herzog Wilhelm. Recommended: I went there because this was affordable and very close to the Haupbahnof railway station so very central. The room are very clean, the breakfast is good. The staff is OK. I say fit to body because my room for one person was really a kind of built around me...so small but very convenient actually. Everything was closed enough and no space wasting but enough to have space for the luggages, the desk, a good space for clothes and a good spacy bathroom with shower. Recommended: A very old hotel but extremely well maintained. No air conditioning,and the area can be somewhat noisy with windows open. The Amba is across the avenue from the main station so travel arrangements are wonderful (tram,Sbahn,Ubahn, and trains) . Tours can be arranged directly from the station. We found Radius Tours to be excellent and close by in the station. Most of Munich's downtown attractions are within easy walking distance, including the Hofbrauhause.The Haupbahnhof (main station) has some good shopping and wonderful bakeries. The hotel was obviously built without an elevator, but a small one has been added. The staff was helpful and pleasant, and American and Canadian hotels should see the Amba's continental breakfast to see how one should be offered. It was consistently excellent during our five days there. Coffee was also offered by the caraffe full at the table. We would certainly stay at this unimposing but very clean hotel again. Recommended: This is a perfect hotel for the budget conscious traveler who cares more about having a great location with free wireless internet than luxury perks. The hotel is literally next door to the train station and easy 10 min. walk to Marienplatz. Appears to be recently remodeled. I felt safe walking by myself in the area around the hotel (lots of pedestrians b/c of train station). My room was non-smoking, included a mini-fridge, TV, safe for my laptop and basic amenities. Everything was clean and nice. Room was small (think college dorm room) which was fine for me b/c I was there to sight-see not hang out in the hotel. Great bargain since room comes with free breakfast buffet, wireless internet and subway pass. Staff was courteous and helpful -- they booked a tour for me and assisted with locating the airport shuttle. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: Le Meridien Munich is situated perfectly for the traveller that takes the train in and out of the city, or uses the tram, metro, or walks while in the city. Located just across the street from the main Hauptbanhoff, it was amazingly convenient and easy to get to. And as we explored Munich, we found it was only a 5 minute walk to the beginning of the historic district. As we ventured out further, we used the tram to get out to the Olympic Park, Nymphenburg Castle, and the other outlying sites. The Hotel was very nice, the staff very friendly, and the only suggestion we would offer is that it can be noisy if your room is facing the street, so stay in an inside room.
