Nice staff, lacking simple amenities

Posted Apr 29, 2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Room amenities
Location: I spent most of my time at the office, but there are tons of great Korean joints around. Shopping, if that's your thing.
The front desk staff were very nice and even let my fiancee check in for my reservation (after I'd approved him). The room was a fine size, but they had very few outlets (none near the bed), no bedside tables, and no lamps near the bed - so definitely no night-time reading. Otherwise everything was clean enough and quiet.

Close to Grand Central Station, Times Square

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: The fresh ice water infused with fruits was a great treat after spending several hours out sightseeing.
Cons: A bit pricey for a basic hotel with basic services. Although, not sure how this would compare with other NY hotels as this was our first trip there.
Location: Empire State Building and Times Square located within 10 minute walking distance. I would highly recommend the Hop On/ Hop Off bus tours.
Good hotel within walking distance of several major attractions and great shopping. Quiet, allowing for a good sleep. Very little time spent at hotel as 12 - 14 hours a day spent sight seeing. Within walking distance of good restaurants. Ate at Moonstruck several mornings, which is a great diner style restaurant located around the corner and down the block with good food, and great desserts. Overall, we found most New Yorkers in the service industry to be very friendly and helpful. This was a great trip, and we would definitely return. Would not hesitate to stay at 70 Park Avenue again, although I would be more careful about checking on prices next time.

Not worth it

Posted Apr 25, 2015
They don't have real beds, they are crappy fold out couches. AC/ heat is hard to control and walls / doors are thin and you can hear conversations from guests next door.

Great staff, location & dog approved!

Posted Apr 25, 2015
We spent a Saturday night at this hotel with our (quiet, well behaved) 90lb dogo mix & had a fantastic stay. It is challenging to find a nice, dog friendly hotel without weight restrictions or lots of extra fees, so we were thrilled with Kimpton's policy. We do not travel with the pooch often, but next time we will only choose a Kimpton hotel. The staff were welcoming, so helpful and incredibly kind. Our room was modern, funky and very comfortable. The hotel is small but stylish and a fantastic location. Overall a great stay and a nice hotel but the icing on the cake was how well we were treated with our dog. We truly appreciated their kindness and welcoming attitude, and in return made sure our pet was on his best behaviour. Highly recommend!

Pros: The Location, the Room and the Staff.
Cons: Room Service and complimentary Breakfast.
Location: Most things
We enjoyed the location and the staff were so helpful. Did not like having NO room service. Coffee Machines worked once and ten NOT again, had three and all had the same results, so went to Star Bucks every morning.. The People in the breakfast room were not very pleasant and the price was way to much for what they had.

Good experience

Pros: Reasonable prices for NYC.
Cons: More drawer storage
While the room was a little tight, the overall experience was excellent. Comfortable bed. More drawer storage would help.

Pleasant well located quiet hotel. However the thermostat in our room was broken and never fixed (they brought in a fan so we would not be sweltering)
