Average stay in accessible part of town

Over all the hotel was quite nice - nice amenities, VERY kind staff and in a great part of town. The bed was a little uncomfortable but otherwise... great!

OK, but not up to Kimpton standards

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Location. Decor was nice (aside from lack of surface in bathroom).
Cons: Cleanliness.
Location was nice, in Midtown and near Grand Central. Overall, the hotel was ok, but really was not what we expected and not up to Kimpton standards (and we've stayed at a number of their hotels). There was mold on the shower tiles, and housekeeping tossed our clothes off the bed onto the floor while making up the bed and left them there. Room windows were also left open by housekeeping. The room we got was right across from the elevators and was LOUD, and in addition there was no deadbolt on the door - which made me nervous. The bathroom had ZERO counter space. The bellman had a hard time locating our stored luggage, and first gave us the wrong luggage and walked away before finally getting me to follow him to the storage room and identify the luggage for us (even though we had the luggage tags). Overall, probably our least favorite kimpton and not a place we would stay again -- certainly not worth the money.

Not like a typical hotel

What I love about the Kimpton hotels are there ability to be a hotel without feeling like a hotel. The rooms are modern, designed and feel a lot more comfortable than most.

Will Try Others

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Location: Moonstruck diner was awesome for breakfast.
The service was excellent. The room was clean & looked nice. That's about all the good. The bad: There's no restaurant... drinks and bar nuts. TV remote barely worked... couldn't use sleep timer. Some sort of loud ventilation noise in the room periodically... distracting. Tub drain was nearly blocked... showered shin-deep in soap-scum water. Shower head didn't provide good stream. Shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer were clearly used & re-sealed... that's nasty. Bathroom is really, really small... difficult to navigate. Toilet is too high... not standard. I will try a lot of other hotels before I return here.

Small and old

Thought this would be a cute boutique hotel. I relied on the Kimpton brand. Will not make the same mistake twice. Go to the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central instead.

Good location, nice property.

Pros: Property is well situated and had the unique Kimpton hotel vibe.
Cons: I have a bad back, so a somewhat firmer mattress would be preferred.
Location: The hotel is walking distance to the J.Pierpont Morgan Library which is a unique and beautiful museum. It's also close to some fun restauarants on
We like the Kimpton Hotels and this was a good value for the $$$.

Nice location by Grand Central

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Lobby and location
Cons: Bigger rooms
Stayed at this hotel for a weekend in NYC a few weeks ago. It was a great location by Grand Central station on Park Avenue. It was close to shopping, trains, restaurants - everything is at your fingertips. And the lobby had complementary wine each night from 5-7! The rooms were nice, but small. I switched rooms halfway through the weekend to get a higher floor. The staff was very helpful with this change, but I was disappointed that the new room (while the view was pretty good) was even smaller than the first. Overall I would recommend this as an above average hotel for a decent price in NYC

Solid choice

All was perfectly acceptable, but even though we were on the 11th floor, there was a ton of noise outside of our window that made it hard to sleep. Part of it is NYC, but the other part was that our windows would not shut properly and therefore, failed to seal out the noise adequately.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. "Acceptable" is not really what we are really aiming for. My apologies for the inconvenience regarding the windows and thank you for bringing that to my attention! I hope to welcome you back to 70 Park Avenue Hotel! Kind Regards, Bill Babis General Manager
