“nice place, really convenient”

Room was clean, compact, comfortable. We were on the 3rd floor with an inside room, so there was some mechanical noise from surrounding buildings and restaurants into an airshaft, but not too loud. Room temperature regulation fine. Nice amenities in the room. Bed fine. Shower fine, with rapid hot water. Shower has a good temperature regulating valve, so getting cooked or cooled not a problem. Room had a lot of outlets for our electronics and an ethernet plug (we did not check out access or any fees). Wireless 3G and cell phone connections were fine. Hotel is in a truly fine location, short walk to the subway at 51st St and Lexington Ave, about 7 blocks from there to the closest entrance into/from Grand Central Terminal. Several parking garages in area, but one really does not need a car when staying at this hotel. Lots of restaurants in the area: several Asian, one famous steak place, an upscale pizza place, several Italian. A small convenience store for snacks about 125 ft away from hotel on 50 St, and two coffee places also nearby. At checkout, luggage storage was efficient and easy, the bell-staff totally friendly and helpful. Did not try the buffet breakfast, nor the wednesday afternoon wine reception, but it was nice that they have one. absolutely would return to this hotel for another visit.

“New York New York”

After our first stay we complained that as our room was on the 5th foor we couldn't get much sleep due to the noise of the street. On our second stay the hotel management upgraded us to a higher floor & we really appreciated their gesture.

“Fantastic Hotel and Ideal Location”

The Affinia 50 is a good clean, value for money hotel idealy located within walking distance of many of New Yorks main attractions including the famous Smith & Wollensky's steak house!!. A five minute walk and you are at the Rockerfella Centre and a further five up the road you are on Times Sq. Hotel rooms are massive as are the bathrooms with a walk in shower. The only negative is the noise from the streets (mainly the subway). I was on the 3rd floor and if you are a light sleeper the noise may interupt your sleep. Overall Rating 9/10

“Great hotel for comfort and location.”

The staff were great, particularly the door men. Excellent rooms that were up to date with modern equipment, proves there are spacious rooms in New York. Hotel Very clean with good facilities. Great location for getting to all locations across the city. Would highly recommend.

Will be my first choice of hotel when i go back to NY, Staff were very helpful and friendly.Room was big for a NY hotel, the complementry teas & coffees a great idea.

“Wonderful hotel staff and nice size room.”

We loved staying at the Affinia 50. The only problem we had was that we like to sleep in a cold room, winter or summer. Their HVAC system is a single pipe system so during the winter they only supply heat. So we had to open the window and we were on the street side, 4th floor up, and it was so noisy that we did not sleep well at all. Next time we will make sure we get a room that does not face that street.

“Very Nice Mid-town Accommodations”

For those of you that know New York, 50th and 3rd isnt exactly the hub of excitement, but this hotel was very clean and conveniently located near the 4-5-6 line of the subway. I would stay again and recommend to anyone traveling through the city and looking for mid-town west lodging. As a random anecdote, the morning I checked out, a van accidentally drove into the side of the hotel breaking the decorative glass window of the lobby. The staff reacted professionally and did not let the incident interfere with the business of getting customers checked in and out.

Somebody in your entourage want to shop? Stay here. Want to walk your feet off? Stay here. This is all the hotel you need. The staff is friendly and helpful. Forget the dinosaur hotels and the overpriced chip on the shoulder poser palaces. Hey, they're even nice to our kid and blind poodle. Second stay and will do it again!!

“Affinia 50 is great - AVOID NY Waterways Harbour tours”

Our ratings of this hotel on the second visit confirm our satisfaction with the first stay. The hotel has a superb central location, good local restaurants and a good small hotel. It doesn't have a fancy lobby, chandeliers and sweeping staircases, but who cares, in NY you are going to be out and about most of the time... The Affinia 50 is pricey by small town standards, but this is NY and you cannot go wrong there. We shall be back (again).
