“Overall good, but needs so work on details.”
Overall our experience was good. The service of the bell staff, concierge and housekeeping was very good, especially the young man who came to make up the sofa bed for our son. While the front desk manager could not help with the problem with the TV continually going off (his only solution was to wait for the maintenance man the next day) the young man from housekeeping not only took care of the bed but also went the extra mile to look at the TV and find that the power supply was loose and fixed it. The "welcome home" from the bellmen each time we returned and their super service went a long wayas well.
“Great location in Mid-town”
Most people don't spend a lot of time in their hotel rooms while in NYC, which is good if you're staying at the Affinia 50. It's not bad - just not all that great. But, the location is perfect for accessing all the mid-town tourist spots and restaurants; plus it's a breeze to ride the subway or catch a cab from there. The staff is very friendly and helpful - went out of their way to help me with several things during my stay. But, there were some problems: the room were overly warm and not able to be controlled with the thermostat - had to sleep with the windows open. The items we used from the refrigerator were never replenished. And the bathroom is like a closet - kinda hard in a suite configuration with 2 women and 2 kids. The Club Level has nothing but water and coffee and couches - no snacks, etc. I'd go back here, but only for the location.
“Excellent overnight girlfriend getaway.”
Stayed overnight on a girlfriend getaway to NYC. Highly recommend the junior suite. Well-appointed, attractive room, comfortable queen beds. Nice seating area, generous desk and convenient kitchen facilities. 2nd floor concierge/lounge wih free coffee was a surprising bonus as main lobby area is minimal. Midtown location can't be beat. Pleasant desk staff. Definitely recommend and plan to return.
“Affinia 50 Hotel”
loved Affinia, except for the busy traffic noise. I was on the 7th flr and it was quite loud.
“Good location for midtown NYC”
Good location for mid town, easy walk to many locations and close to subway stops. Hotel staff was terrific, very responsive to all our requests--stopped drain I shower, extra blankets, and special pillows. All were friendly , professional, and helpful. The concierge was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice on travel plans and restaurants. Our only complaint was the construction taking during the night-- it was very loud and disturbing. The windows did not really keep out any noise. Earplugs solved this for the remaining nights we stayed.
“Affinia 50”
Great price and a great location. We really enjoyed the Manhattan experience - easy walking distance to Rockefeller Center and subway, all kinds of restaurants (and prices), and shopping.
“Had a great experience!”
Hotel was very clean, service was great and surrounded by awesome restaurants. Essa's bagles a must in the morning. PJ Clarks fantanstic burgers and more. This is a perfect hotel because it is only a few blocks from the very busy area so you can go back to your hotel and relax. Lot's of taxis if you need one and nice to get out of the bustling street to a nice calm night. Great with kids because Suite was very large and easily accomodating for our family of six.
“Great midtown Manhattan hotel”
I chose the Affinia 50 hotel due to its proximity to the location of my conference in midtown Manhattan. Based on the nightly rates compared to surrounding hotels I was expecting an overpriced rattrap. To my surprise, however, it was an extremely nice hotel with an excellent staff who made me feel at home. The room was exceedingly comfortable, the staff courteous, and the surrounding area was safe.
“Our daughter's move to the city--mom's first visit!”
We loved this place. It was one block from where my daughter had just moved into Midtown. Really quaint neighborhood. Close to most everything if you do not mind an invigorating walk. (Our weather was perfect!) Clean, comfortable, staff courteous, had a health club....only negative which was not a biggie was no bar or restaurant. We made do with the local places which was probably a good thing. A* We will be visiting the city often and this will be our hotel of choice. We usually stay at Times Square...no comparison!
“Great Location”
Lovely hotel, great location in midtown. Rooms are well equipped and great size for NYC. Nice touch with Club Room and nightly activities for guests, including wine and snacks. Lack of attention to detail such as mold around tub, extremely slow drain in sink and light bulbs out in several lamps keep this from being a ten. A/C was not working in room and front desk suggestion was to open window!! Luckily it was not extremely hot outside but room hovered in the low 80's. During one week stay none of the problems were fixed. Bed and pillows were great and TV in room awesome. Just needs to fix these few issues to make it a top hotel.Travel to NYC twice a year, will stay in hotel again as long as it remains bed bug free and minor problems fixed.
