Good sized rooms

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Cons: See the "bad things" I listed.
We stayed for 4 nights in a one king and fold out sofa room at the quiet side of the hotel in room 431. We really wanted a two bed suite, but the hotel was completely booked. Good things: 1. Pretty spacious room for NY standard 2. Had a curtained off area containing a full sized desk, side table and refrigerator that my young son used as his "boy cave". 3. Very comfortable king sized bed 4. Nice, well made furniture 5. Plenty of task and general lighting 6. Cold refrigerator 7. Generous bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower Bad things: 1. There was no ventilation whatsoever in the tiny bathroom, so the cloth shower curtains started smelling like mildew by the 2nd day. We even kept the bathroom door open all the time. 2. No microwave oven 3. The fold out sofa was your typical tolerable mattress, even though it was a Mitchell + Gold designed sofa bed. My 16 year old daughter said at least she didn't feel the support bar running along center of the bed. 4. Our reservations were for 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids), but only 2 bath towels were supplied and there were 2 blankets and 2 pillows for the fold old sofa, but no sheets. 5. We were on the quiet side of the hotel, but be prepared for the impatient honking trucks, something that sounded like powerful fans that went on occasionally, and the church bells across the street that played at 7:00 am every morning and at odd hours of the day.

Great Location

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: carpet, a/c, bathroom amenitites and room smell
Overall stay was okay Room was clean but it smell stale and the A/C blew out dust and particles Bathroom had the basic amenities, would be nice if they had shower caps Kitchen was good but the carpet was torned up and exposed the metal stripping which can hurt your feet if you step on it.

Large hotel will lots of amenities

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Good security, nice reception, helpful staff
Cons: Free wifi
Location: It's a actually a bit of a dodgy area as the visitors to Madison Square Gardens Penn station are targeted so be cautious and aware.
We were staying for nine nights and we did ask to change rooms after checking in as we wanted a room with a bath tub, the receptionist kindly upgraded our room the next day to a suite, free of charge which was much a appreciated as it made us much more comfortable for our long stay. And our first nights room was on 7th Avenue which was very loud and might have been hard to cope with more than one night. Thank you so much Hotel Affinia for making our stay so comfortable.

Hotel is in a perfect location. Close to time square (about 10min walk). Clean rooms and very unique designs. Room had a neat balcony overlooking the city and it has a very modern design inside.

Great surprise

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Location, Location and Location
Cons: Less noise in the rooms
Location: MSG is right across the street, Macys is 3 blocks north and a short walk to the Highline.
Hotel was great, price was amazing beautiful decor and small but clean room. Only con, our room faced 7th ave and was very noisy but hey it NYC. The free wine in the lobby from 5pm-6pm every night was a great touch.

Great location, great hotel.

Asked to switch rooms as I wanted a bath tub and the room I booked only had a shower. Request taken care of right away. No hair dryer in room - took forever for one to get delivered but apparently the elevators were down at the time hence the delay. Overall a great stay. Staff very accomodating.

Ok but too noisy

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Room small but clean and tidy. Staff nice but way too many kids and noise and general chaos. The weekend we stayed there were young children 10 to 14 approx age who just totally took over the lobby making it unbearable.
