Exceptional location

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Hotel shows a bit of wear.
Location: Theatre, Theatre, Theatre
If your are headed to NYC for theatre, this location is exceptional. Rooms are typical NYC size, but very clean. And the staff were all exceptionally nice. Was only there one night. But enjoyed the stay.

Mattress was horrible felt like we were sleeping on box springs. While showering water would get very very hot. Be careful if staying there with small kids.

Pros: look above
Cons: almost everything
Location: good location
Hard to sleep with rock hard mattress!!!!!!!!!!! Bathtub would not drain properly. This is not a third world hotel but it feels like it. go elsewhere and run.

Amsterdam Hotel

Pros: location on West 50th was nice.
Cons: It could be in much better working order. Better staffing at busy times of day. Usually only 1 or maybe 2 people to ask questions or facility issues.
Location: Same street as the Rockefeller Center, near to Dbl. Decker busses for sightseeing, many restaurants on the street.
Only thing going for it was the hotel. So tiny you could miss it. Halls that you couldn't navigate well. Poorly lit rooms, bathrooms were not user friendly (too tiny, no counters at all, dark for makeup use, plugs didn't work). The staff was more than friendly but they couldn't really do much to change the things that were most disappointing. My mother (83) and I were very disappointed with the accommodations but we went on week when the President was in town for a UN Summit Meeting and the City was completely booked and they could ask for any price and it's what we were able to find 3 months early and what fit our budget?????

A closet-sized room w/ bed

Posted Sep 9, 2014
The outside of this hotel makes you think you're going to enjoy your stay. Once you get in the elevator, however, you realize something totally different. My room shouldn't even have been called a room. The bathroom was larger than the room. There wasn't even space for a desk. The bed felt like a summer camp mattress. The first night, my tv remote didn't work. They charge you for internet, and for breakfast (but sell it from the front desk as if it's a *perk* to pay 11 bucks for breakfast.
