Super Lage

Excellent Location, Friendly and Helpful Staff

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness and Location. The hotel common areas (lobby, breakfast area, hallways) and our room were very clean. The proximity to subways is great!
Cons: Eggs and plasticware for continental breakfast could be improved, but a free breakfast in NYC is very hard-to-find. We liked the fruits and pastries!
Location: GREAT proximity to several subway stations, many great Chinese and Italian restaurants nearby, walking distance to MoLita and Soho neighborhoods.
The hotel didn't "wow" us at first, but soon we realized how good it was. It's located on the second floor of an office building at the corner of Grand Ave and Bowery. There are two glass doors on the first floor, and a hallway leading to elevators that take you to the second floor lobby. The lobby is small and rather plain, but the staff (Nathan and Hugh in particular) are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about NYC attractions and the subway system. The hotel appears to have been remodeled recently, and we were very impressed with our room, which had hardwood floors and tile in the bathroom. We had a view of the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings from our room, and the view from the gym (located on the top floor) is amazing. The housekeeping staff was friendly, and the hotel was meticulously clean. The air conditioning, TV, and everything else in the room worked perfectly, and the beds were comfy. The TV even had a "clean" remote, the first one I'd ever seen. I was in NYC for a week of sightseeing with my kids, and we did nearly all of our traveling by subway. The hotel's location is within a few blocks of a number of subway stations, which is excellent. We'd often see an attraction after breakfast, return to our room for an hour or two in the afternoon, and then head out to another attraction in the evening. Having a hotel room in Manhattan and close to the subway was fantastic. We were there for a week and I highly recommend it, a great value!

The hotel is fine but avoid the noisy second floor

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Noise on the second floor
Location: China town, Little Italy, Soho, Nolita, Grand subway station are all very close.
On our first night we got a room on the second floor, the same floor as the lobby and breakfast area. It was very noisy, especially in the morning. Our second night we were moved to the third floor and it was fine.

gutes zentrumnahes Hotel

Posted May 14, 2015

Central location. Clean & spacious, not luxurious

Posted May 5, 2015
Pros: Proximity to subway and closeness to main NYC attractions. Knowledgeable staff. 2 Queen beds. Numerous outlets. In-room temperature control.
Cons: Walking into the hotel, there is no staff on the main floor. You need to go up to the second floor where the front desk is, but it's not a big deal.
Location: Located in China Town, which is right next to Little Italy. Various cafes and restaurants within 5 minute walk. Subway within 2 minute walk
Very friendly and helpful at front desk (knowledgeable staff). 2 minute walk to subway, nearby several NYC attractions. With traffic, it is located within a less than 20 minute distance to Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park etc. Clean, spacious room - heated bathroom floor. Breakfast is simple - sufficient and convenient. Key card required for elevator improved feelings of safety. Luggage storage was great (before check in and after check out). Excellent hotel cleaning (fresh towels, beds made, toiletries replaced). I have stayed at Best Western hotels before. It is not luxurious, but not run down (totally clean and comfortable). I was once again satisfied with my visit. Great to save money but make a safe hotel choice.
