Only good thing about this hotel is locationPosted Mar 9, 2014
After arriving in New York to -4 temperatures at night we expected a nice warm hotel room. Unfortunately this was not the case as there was no heating. It took three separate complaints over a couple of days to get us moved. We even became aware that the maintence team had said the room should not be used after the first complaint. On informing the manager he seemed uninterested and dismissive of our issues during the stay and his only answer was we should have spoken to him sooner. We are also awaiting a reply from the chain itself.

Just OKPosted Mar 9, 2014
Cons: We had missing towel hooks in our bathroom and we didn't always get new face towels every day. Sometimes they would only replace our bath towels.
Side street of Times Square so it wasn't as noisy as friends told me it would be when staying in that area. First room we were located right behind the elevator and you could hear the suitcases rolling in and out every time guests got in our out of the elevator. Also the carpet was very very smelly. Asked the front desk to move us to a different room, and they did so without hesitation which was nice. Overall the rooms are super super small, which I guess you would expect from a hotel in NYC without spending an arm and a leg. Beds are a lot smaller than what the pictures showed.

second review for me.Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: Really great location. Comfortable beds.
Cons: See my other review. The second room and bathroom were better than the first, but my daughter stayed four blocks away and paid the same $$
Location: great Japanese restaurant right next to lobby. I love to walk so was happy the weather permitted me to do so. Really great location.
Decided to arrive a day earlier than original reservation. Unable to get same room so first night was spent in a VERY SMALL room for one. I reviewed that experience as a 2. Once my roommate arrived and we settled into the new room, I was a little more pleased ... though I wouldn't stay here again.

not much of a remodelPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: mattress and location
Cons: just about everything
Location: walking distance (weather permitting) to theatres, shopping and if you enjoy walking to Central Park. Great Japanese restaurant right next door.
Reception not very "welcoming" but then this is NYC so that's expected. What was not expected was the smallness of the room, the noise level (in and outside noises), the general shabbiness and the OMG could the bathroom have been any smaller. On the positive side ... ummm, oh yeah the bed was actually comfortable. And the location is great.

Clean room, great location, no frills.Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Proximity to Times Square, decor, cleanliness.
Cons: Staff demeanour and willingness to help...with anything...
Location: Hurley's Saloon next door is fantastic, great Irish pub. Very close to good restaurants, and Broadway theatres.
Room was clean, but very small. Sink ran constantly, toilet very loudly refilled itself every 15 minutes. Room is large enough to change your mind by turning around, but windows that open and very clean. You'll need to open the window even in February, otherwise the room is stifling - we weren't the only guests who made this observation. staff clearly does not want to be there and are less than helpful, except for a very kind bellman who wouldn't accept a tip for a $2 baggage storage fee. Highly recommend Hurley's Saloon next door for a drink and a bite to eat.

College Dormitory HotelPosted Feb 18, 2014
This is a fair location for new york if your looking for a quick stay when you cant find another place or better room. If you pick the cheap room, dont share your bed even with one person. The color of the floors are light purple and very oddly designed. The hallways are also extremely narrow. If you pay attention to the little things like corners of rooms and crampt elevators you can see its old. This is simply a small advance from an old school dorm.

Very Close to the Heart of Times SquarePosted Feb 7, 2014
Definitely price friendly with great access to Time Square and the city. However the room was very warm, too warm. And I no matter how low I turned the thermostat down it wouldn't cool off - hard to sleep. The bed was very small - like a full size bed. Sleeping for two would be very uncomfortable and the pillows, sheets and blanket weren't very cozy. Room was very small! But - still a bargain.

Great location comfortable bed the rest not so gooPosted Feb 6, 2014
The location was perfect and the king size bed was surprisingly comfortable however the bathroom wasn't very clean in general and the tub always backed up when you would shower even after a few seconds of running water and the sink water if you had it on cold would be warm in under a minute. As I expected the room was rather small but we didn't care since we weren't going to be there much. The front desk staff was not overly friendly however the bellman was very helpful assisting us with storing our bags. All in all its a old hotel which needs some work with mediocre service but the price and location were perfect for our situatio .

Great location, ok hotelPosted Feb 6, 2014
I read other reviews before I booked so I new what to expect. Old hotel with small rooms and kitschy decor, hard to control heat, and a lot of street noise but the rooms were clean and we had no problems with the staff. The room rate is high because of the location which is great. I picked this hotel because of the location and it was refundable in case the Seahawks didn't make it to the Super Bowl. I suggest ear plugs.

Decent price near Times Square NYCPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: Staff responsiveness
Cons: Rooms--at least the one I stayed in--need renovation work
Location: Location is great. Steps away from Times Square and the theater district. Lots of restaurants and bars, shopping, churches, etc.
The best part of the experience was that when I had an issue with the room, the staff responded immediately. Most of the staff were very easy to deal with and pleasant. The room I stayed in had water stains on the wall, and the room was small. However, for the price and location, it was good. It is no frills, no complimentary breakfast; but, again, there are numerous cafes and delis in close proximity. If you plan to use the hotel room just for sleeping, and that's the only time you will be inside, then it's a great deal. If you are looking for a place where you might want to stay inside and enjoy the comforts of home away from home, then this is not the place.
