You get what you pay for.Posted Nov 25, 2013
Pros: I liked that it was cheap and it filled it's purpose and that was a clean bed and bathroom.
Cons: Didn't like the bleach smell. I could smell cigarettes even though it's non-smoking. The check-in time is too late (3pm) and the check-out time 11am.
Location: It's Chinatown. I didn't think there was a lot to do there.
The place is small. Room was clean. Bathrooms aren't bad but make sure you wear the sandals they provide. The place sort of smelled like cleaning products. If you don't want to drink the tap water, you can buy bottled water there. Located in Chinatown, it's close to the subway. Relatively quiet.

Yuck!!Posted Nov 14, 2013
Cons: They could actually clean it
Location: Walking distance to SOHO, Easy subway access
I wasn't expecting much when I booked this hotel but I wouldn't stay there again. The room was TINY and grimy. No windows, mirrors, or a T.V. It was like a prison cell. The bathrooms were dirty and towels stained. The staff was ok, some were rude. The only good thing was the location. It was just a few blocks from SOHO. I guess if you are trying to save money on a hotel its manageable but I would recommend bringing your own pillowcase, towel, and shower shoes to say the least.

Hostel style close to everythingPosted Nov 8, 2013
Best location you could ask for, walking distance to all major attractions with a couple of subway stops less than a block away. Very small rooms with 4 shared bathrooms down the hallway. Staff was very nice. Definitely more backpacker/hostel style accommodations.

Dirty closet with a bed.Posted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: ahm, like nothing
Cons: burn it to the ground, call the sanitary inspection
The room is probably 3 sq meters, more or less of the size of the closet. Unsanitary, I slept with my clothes on. The shared bathroom - was afraid to touch things. Make sure to bring tons of Lysol.

Cheap hostel for a short stay in NY.Posted Oct 4, 2013
Pros: Location, price, free WiFi.
Cons: Nothing to improve for 1 star hostel.
Location: China district on lower Manhattan, very close to Subway (Grand Street on B,D) and nearby Brooklyn Bridge.
Hotel location is reasonable (China district on lower Manhattan, very close to Subway and nearby Brooklyn Bridge). Price is cheap as for NY, facilities are scarce and the room is small. Free high speed wireless internet is a plus.

Terrible hotelPosted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: location, fans in room.
Cons: windows. cleanliness. nicer staff. remove better pictures online and put the real ones.
Location: empire state building, brighton beach, little italy, china town, soho, subway for easy transportation.
I`m suprised they even let people stay here. Okay the picture of the room me and my wife found online showed decent size and comfort. However when we arrived the room was literally as big as a king size mattress, but they had a queen size bed in there. This was our first time in new york, specifically lower manhatten and we expected it being manhatten it would be a little comfortable but no. I know manhatten can be very expensive (our room was 360.00 for four days, and thats not bad) but not this terrible. We had no windows, the staff only communicates with you if they need your money, maybe a simple hello could suffice but nothing at all. The bathroom was probable the worst part, they are all stained and very small and you also have to share two bathrooms with the entire "hotel". I took one shower the four days I was there because the water was freezing and everything around you is just dirty as can be. I really never complain, as a matter of fact this is my first time review online or of anything in general so please bare with me. We loved new york and everything it had to offer and we plan on coming back asap. I know we spent near to nothing for a hotel in new york but c`mon really? All of those things are just unbearable. The only nice thing I can say about the hotel is the fan, they keep them running all day in your room so they are nice and cool inside. Plus the location in lower manhatten is very good as well. Other then that I would never stay at this place again.

It was worth the 50 bucksPosted Aug 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Couldn't really complain much. But when you pay $50 a night in NYC, you get what you pay for. A room the size of a closet, community bathrooms, and a couple blocks away from the nearest subway station, The Grand Bowery is ideal for anyone that plans on spending the entire day outside and to use this place just for sleeping.. If you plan on getting any work done, go to the nearest Starbucks and do it there. Overall... it was the bare necessities: a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in. That's it.
