“Great Hotel, fun neighborhood”

We spent a week there. I love the location so close to subway (1 block). Street noise from our room and the heater made klunk noises, but I got used to it, its an old building, part of the charm. I love the neighborhood, residential and not snotty. We had a corner room it was quite spacious. Caesar salad at bar/restaurant was best I have ever had. Best Coffee Stumptown Birch Best Pizza Ciao Bella Napoli Nearby Museum Momath (good for kids)

“Small but comfy”

The Carlton has spacious public areas and a stunning lobby. We stayed in a standard room, and they made the most of a very small room. They squeezed in a minibar, bathrobes, and most importantly, free wifi. The bedding was plush and no street noise kept us awake. The subway was very nearby, and when we checked out the front desk clerk offered to hold our bags for the day. It was a lovely stay.

“Madison Ave hotel”

I'm from LI. but stayed the night in the city for a staycation. This hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious, especially for Manhattan. The front desk staff was great and the location is close to the 6 train...you can catch a cab as soon as you walk out of the door. The hotel lobby was beautiful and the pictures on the site dont lie. Try Yuca bar in the East Village on for great drinks and authentic Latin food (with low prices)

“Very good value in NYC”

My room was available several hours early, when I arrived in the city. Check in was very fast. The room was small, as I had expected, because I booked the least expensive room with just a double bed (I was alone), but it was very attractive, had ample hanging space and a full sized desk and large flat screen tv and minibar, and the bathroom was huge, about 1/3rd the size of the room itself. Service was fast and cordial. There were no bad surprises. The hotel was busy. The lobby is lovely. The neighborhood is excellent and convenient to mass transit.
