Somewhat basic but you pay for the location

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Location, cleanliness
Cons: Elevator requires key card top operate but is slow to recognize them--you frequently get "kidnapped" by others calling the elevator.
Location: Next to WTC site and memorial, close to Battery Park with ferry to Liberty and Ellis Island. Easy access to subway (Line 1-3 @ Rector Street).
The hotel's location right next to the World Trade Center site is certainly one of its major attractions, but don't necessarily expect a view of it (my room pointed the other direction). My room was bright, clean, functional (Queen-size bed), not too large but acceptable. A coffeemaker was the only amenity provided (water dispensers with recyclable bottles are located on each floor). The fact that a window could be opened (normally a big plus for me) was somewhat mitigated by the fact that it caught the smells of a kitchen exhaust below. Mattress was comfortable, bathroom facilities (shower only, no bath tub) impeccable. Wireless connection is free and works fine. The view from the 20th floor terrace on the WTC site is spectacular (especially at night)--easy the best vintage point to have. There is an open rooftop with complementary guest access (if not booked for an event, as it happened to me). The View of the World, a restaurant/bar offers the same panorama over drinks and dinner (note that restaurant cheques already include gratuity, so be careful to not overtip). I didn't have much interaction with the hotel staff. People at the check-in desk, however, were very friendly and helpful.

Ideal hotel in perfect location

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: Staff (especially Irene and Jason), location, design, decor, amenities
Location: 911 Memorial, Financial district, subway to everything
New, contemporarily designed and decored hotel in perfect location. Staff are excellent and offer great tips for directions, sights and hotel amenities. Lots of nice perks like capuccino machine, sparkling water and breakfast snacks for the taking. 20th floor offers stunning view and great location for breakfast buffer or evening drinks. Various room set-ups. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel near the 9/11 memorial

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: Location and the restaurant
Cons: Cheaper parking! Also TV's that offer movies. I don't want to have to hook up a laptop watch a movie.
Location: Located next to the world trade. If my room was facing the memorial, it would have enhanced my stay. That is only my fault for being cheap.
Stayed for one night. Room was just big enough for myself and my wife. Overall it was a nice clean room.

Great hotel by the World Trade Centre

Posted Mar 24, 2015
I stayed here on the Friday and Saturday night. Whilst the Queen room I had was small, it wasn't cramped.... And could almost be called spacious by NYC standards. Everything about the room feels modern and high end. I had a lovely room on the 5th floor with a Juliet balcony overlooking the World Trade Centre. Great view of the new Number1 building, and the memorial pools. There is a fair amount of building work happening at WTC, but I didn't hear any noise from this (it was the weekend).

it used to be better. Checking in was terrible

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: not much
Cons: everything really, it is aging fast
Location: close to world trade center and Battery Park
unfriendly person when checking in, quite astounding really, very unusual. will never go back, cannot recommend. I dont think I have ever experienced such an unwelcome in NY city
