Great location close to everything

This hotel was amazing! Perfect location....close to everything but far enough way not to be in the mass of people that engulf time square! Highly recommend!

Disorganized check-in service. Staff allowed late checkouts on a day when they were fully booked, which delayed check-in for customers coming in that night. I attempted to check in 3 times before I was actually able to, which was at 10:00 PM. Staff offered drink voucher but I had dinner reservations and tickets for a show and could not get into my room to shower and change after being out all day in the City.

Good Midtown Location

Posted May 20, 2015
Cons: Lobby area can get cramped if too many people arrive at once. Maybe shift concierge desk to key drop area.
Location: Most things within walking distance: I walked to Carnegie Hall. Theater District is a ways, but walking in Manhattan is pleasant.
Convenient location: block and a half from subway, MOMA, Rockefella Plaza. Staff responsive to small problems: tv remote inop., plug in sink drain. Room was small but clean, modern: everything you need. Book early, prices rise closer to your time of stay.

BASIC, WITH VERY DISAPPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE

Posted May 20, 2015
Pros: The location
Cons: Customer service and attitude, the condition of the bed, and room cleanliness
Location: Near Rockefeller Center with access to everything
This is a small, serviceable hotel in Midtown. The location across from Rockefeller Center is great, but everything else (with the exception of the customer service on check out) was average at best. There was a small refridgerator and a microwave in my room, which was convenient. But my room also had dust bunnies on the rug when I checked in, and the "king" bed was 2 twin beds not pushed together particularly well. What was most disappointing was that at precisely 12:00 noon on the day of my checkout my room card was deactivated, without any notice whatsoever. And then to add insult to injury, I was automatically charged $50, again without warning, because I checked out at 12:45 instead of 12:30. When I complained, I was told that they could not reverse the charge and that I had been advised that checkout time was noon. I have stayed in many, many hotels in New York, around the country and around the world. I have NEVER been automatically charged in this manner with no advance notice of the charge. And the attitude of the desk clerk was dismissive. She had absolutely no interest in being soothing or accommodating. She advised that a message had been left on my room telephone at 12:24. When I advised her that I could not get into my room at that time because they had AUTOMATICALLY cut off my room access, she could not have cared less. I will never stay at this hotel again.

I was given a poor room with the thermostat not working. It was hot and humid 90 degrees plus in the room. I called the desk and asked for a new room. They said that "someone would be right up to repair the problem". I said "It is terribly hot, please give me a new room". They said "OK new key is on its way". I waited 15 minutes and finally called again and said "I'll come down and get new key. They said "oh no, we will be right up". Five minutes later, hot sweaty and not happy, the new room key arrived. The place is not oriented to serve travelers.
