Great hotel, even better location!

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Location and cleanliness
Cons: The slow/small elevator.
Location: Very close to both the 72st. subway stop of the red 1, 2, 3 lines and the A, C, B, D orange lines. Took us about 5 min. to walk to those stations.
We loved our stay at the Comfort Inn Central Park West. Sure the rooms are tiny but what else to you expect for NYC (unless you want to pay $400 a night) The hotel was located just around the corner from 4 subway lines and only a couple blocks from 3 more so it was very easy to get to any location in Manhattan. Our room was amazingly clean, in fact cleaner than some 4-5 star hotels we've stayed in. (ie Sheratons and Hiltons) We would definitely book this hotel again. Thank you cleaning lady on 6th floor! Filipe on the front desk, along with another girl (sorry I don't know your name) were friendly and so helpful. They helped us understand the subway and how to get around. They kept our luggage before and after check out so we could make the most of our time in NYC. Alex who ran around the hotel helping with just about anything was always smiling and doing what he could to make everyone's stay a good one. The breakfast was very good. If you came later toward the end the selection was limited however if you came early there was everything from eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, donuts, fruit, waffles, hot or cold cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. Coffee and tea were available 24/7 which was awesome! The hallways in some areas were a little tired looking and could use some sprucing up but it was clean. I can overlook that. We weren't there to see the hotel we were there to see NYC. Thank you for such a great stay!

Location is best asset

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location! Front desk people. Windows that open. Room with a view (brownstones).
Cons: WIFI was completely inoperative in our room, and even slow in the lobby. Breakfast was lacking in protein and yogourts were high-sugar.
Location: The Frick collection is right across the park, Tavern on the Green is 5 minutes away, Lincoln Center is a short walk. Shops and Restaurants near
What can you say about a hotel that is half a block from Central Park, two blocks from the subway and a couple of blocks from shopping streets? It was great to be in the center of town. Overall we had a good experience, but we are tolerant. We like to have windows that open for fresh air, and that was a plus. Our room was comfortable enough. The street and the neighborhood are quiet. The two big drawbacks were the wifi, which never worked at all in our room (BIG BUMMER) and the breakfast which was barely adequate. They ran out of yogourts and boiled eggs early, there was no cheese or peanut butter or any kind of protein except eggs and sausages, and the staff in the breakfast room (one girl in particular) were unwelcoming and unhelpful. Other people have complained about the elevator but it was not a problem for us. Unfortunately the lack of WIFI is a deal-breaker for me, otherwise I would stay here again.

Nice quiet, value hotel located near the Park.

Friendly and efficient staff. 2 min walk to Central Park. 10-15 min walk to Midtown. Located in residential block away from Midtown so a nice quiet and local atmosphere. Only breakfast served but nice diners and bakery found nearby. Rooms are small so not ideal if you plan to spend any time other than sleeping here. Room was slightly shabby too (small holes in curtains, loose power socket hanging from wall) but very clean. Only one elevator as well which is a little inconvenient.Would recommend to those on a budget who plan to sight see all day and just need somewhere basic to lay there head down at night.

Great staff!

Pros: The staff. Again, Evelyn and Felipe were very helpful.
Location: Situated 1/2 block from Central Park, so great location on the west side of Manhattan with easy access transportation, shopping and great dining.
The staff at the hotel were fantastic and extremely helpful with anything I needed, including a last minute change to my itinerary. Evelyn and Felipe went "above and beyond" to make sure everything was scheduled properly for me. Thank you! The hotel itself is very small and the rooms are truly tiny. But, it is right in Manhattan and only a half a block from Central Park, so it's a great location and everything is easy to get to from this spot. It is certainly very fairly priced considering the location and other nearby alternative properties. It was nice having breakfast available in the morning right in the hotel as well.

Nice for price...but not for comfort

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Needed a one night stay last minute. Familiar with the brand so took a chance. Very small rooms (not uncommon to NYC). Bed was extremely uncomfortable. It's an older structure on the Upper West Side, but for the cost I didn't expect luxury. I did expect though a more comfortable bed, given the Chpice Hotels brand. Staff was very polite.

Comfort Inn - great location

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Area, cleanliness
Cons: Updating of some of the facilities - breakfast area. More responsive hotel staff
Location: Very close to Central Park, museums etc.
The location was excellent. Price was good for the area. Hotel staff was pretty unresponsive. Room was very small but very clean. hotel is older and small but for the area, it's good. Ran out of free breakfast - breakfast area very crowded.
