Didn't expect luxury, but this was ridiculous!

Pros: Proximity to JFK
Cons: Everything
Location: The location is near to JFK and there is NOTHING near by.
The room was the size of a closet with very dim and depressing lighting. Thin walls and doors made every sound audible. No where to obtain beverages and snacks - nothing in surrounding area and the vending machines were half empty. Staff was nice enough, but every question/request was met with we don't have that or we don't do that. Breakfast, which was slim pickings to begin with was being taken down at 9am as we were just arriving to the breakfast area after a late night arrival. Such was my disappointment that I made different hotel arrangements on our return to the US from our vacation in spite of a no-refundable reservation I held at this same location for November 2.

Great for JFK

The hotel was perfect for an overnight stay in between flights at JFK. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was appreciated. The shuttle service was extremely convenient.

Just ok

Posted Oct 31, 2014
Pros: I had a place to sleep and was easy to get to the city.
Cons: Customer service could use a major upgrade and an in room renovation.
Location: Close to the airport, air tran that leads to the subway station. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Time Square. $5 fee for AirTran and 2.50$ Subway
This hotel was ok, I didn't spend much time at the room as my trip was very short. I didn't want to pay too much for an over night trip. I only noticed that the tub could use either a good clean or a replacement, new sofa (as it was stained) and although the bed had a pillow top matress it was hard as a rock. I regret getting an upgrade to this room. It was the worst upgrade Ive ever paid for. It was very disappointed that the customer service was so poor, from the shuttle driver to the help desk. Very unprofessional people. The shuttle passes about every half an hour on the hour.

Staff was very helpful.

The Days Inn staff was very helpful and knowledgeable from the front desk personnel, the guy that help fix my electronics and the shuttle driver with his knowledge of the city. Use their expertise to your advantage. Even though it was my own mistake, the staff at Days Inn was very helpful. When I accidentally "clicked" on the wrong button for my reservation on Expedia's website for a "smoking room," the Days Inn staff went out of their way to find me a "no smoking" room unlike the experience I had with Expedia that essentially said too bad, so sad but they can't (or won't) do anything for me even when I can see on their website there is an existing comparable "no smoking" room. I'd do Days Inn again.

Unremarkable

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Pros: I liked that there was fresh apples and ripe bananas available with the breakfast selection.
Cons: Serious consideration should be given to allocating more space to the breakfast room. more bandwidth on the wifi.
Location: Location was good as the shuttle is a nice addition.
I recently spent two days at DYs Inn NY. The room was pleasingly clean, and although in the smoking section, (I do not smoke), the room itself didn't snell of smoke. While I expected the rooms not to be hugh, it still feels small when you settle in. It's disappointing when you consider what you get for pride you pay. The "breakfast room" (I use the term loosely) is way too cramped.

The free shuttle, though not actually free when considering the price of the room, is a definite plus. It was about a 10 minute ride from the airport. The lobby is small and smelled of diesel fuel as did the elevator. The room was nice enough and lacked the diesel aroma. the room was quiet and the bed comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. All-in-all, not a bad place to stay for a night or two.
