40th Birthday trip to NYCPosted Dec 5, 2013
Pros: Everything! Great attention to detail - weather cards & free wifi make trip planning easy, environmentally friendly
Cons: (V fussy) & contradicts environmental aspect but light left on in the room at dusk. Option to turn off lights by bed (other than desklamp)
Location: Perfect walking distance to everything & port authority bus stop opposite
After long trip from the UK (on US Thanksgiving) we were greeted by friendly reception staff & complimentary hot warm cider (alcohol free) & iced fruit water in the lobby. Check in was quick and easy - room keys issued and credit card details taken for incidentals. Room was welcoming & clean - TV, tea/coffee maker, towels (bath, hand, face) robe, toiletries, 4 button coded safe, iron etc & welcome pack with access code to free wifi. A weather card was left daily showing high/low temperature for the following day with chocolates. Birthday cake & handmade card in room (taking into account age trepidation!) & thanksgiving cookies along with a list of places to eat. It was a pleasure to come back to the room after sightseeing knowing the bed was comfortable and the room quiet from traffic noise & cleaned daily.

Close to main activitiesPosted Dec 1, 2013
A great little hotel with personal service. It is opposite the port authority bus depot, but not where the buses leave or enter, so makes it a quiet road, yet very central. Rooms were well maintained and very clean. Only 5 or 6 rooms on each floor so very little disturbance at all. We walked almost everywhere from here, Central Park, Empire State, grand central station, with Times Square only 2 blocks away. Subway also at the end of the street. If you go the opposite way to all the action onto 9th avenue there are some great deli's for breakfast that cost a lot less than any that are near Times Square. Bed was very comfy and bedding great quality too.

Distrikt Hotel RoomPosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: Clean and neat
Cons: Better pillows
Location: New York City and so much to do and everywhere to dine!
Everyone was wonderful and we had great time. The bedroom needs better pillows. They were too hard to sleep on.

Excellent Hotel in a Great LocationPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff, who can't do enough for you; coffee and hot apple cider in reception, for the end of a cold day in NYC; good location.
Cons: More coffee in the room - only 2 capsules per day. Stop New Yorkers honking their horns all the time!
Location: Pretty much everything is close in Manhatten. The Cafe Hestia (1 block up on 40th (between 8th and 7th Ave) is excellent for breakfast.
The Distrikt is a boutique-style hotel within easy walking distance of Times Square, 5th Ave and Central Park, and only a short subway ride to Downtown. The staff were most accommodating, from check-in to departure. The room was compact but a reasonable size for 2 people. It was clean and well maintained with a luxurious feel - from the tall padded headboards to the stylish bathroom. The room came with a decent coffee machine (instead of a kettle and sachet of instant coffee). The beds were firm and comfortable, and the maid service efficient.

Location: Beer authority pub at the top of the street nice food and drink. A couple of adult shops at the top of the street (not a big deal)
This was our 5th visit to New York and we stayed at the Distrikt hotel for 5 nights and this was without doubt the best hotel we have stayed in,as you walk through the front door the hot apple cider is there waiting for you which was most welcome after a cold day walking around New York. The bedrooms were large and kept very clean, and very high standard The members of staff were so helpfull and knowledgeable ,always ready to have a chat where possible from the reception staff to porters, bar staff cleaners they never forget a face.
