Lousy service, long waits, skip this one!
Posted Jan 24, 2013
Pros: Driving away.
Cons: Long waits at reception
Location: Very close to JFK airport. Noisy from traffic on the Belt Parkway which is 100 feet away.
There was always a line at reception, day or night, and it was always understaffed. I managed to get the rude and uncaring types twice. I had to move rooms because the first one's A/C didn't work. That was a cluster, because two different people came upstairs, one who had the key to the new room, and another person from housekeeping who had no idea what was agreed on but wanted to argue with the other one. The bar was convenient but 60°F inside for some reason - I had to leave. Parking is valet ONLY and took forever. On the second day I found a spot on the street outside the gates and just hoped that my car wouldn't be vandalized or stolen. I stay at LOTS of Hilton properties (Hilton, Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Doubletree) each year, because i like them. I have many points as a result, so I am LOYAL to this brand. But this particular hotel was easily the worst one that I have experienced in many many years. By far. I would never stay here again. There's a Courtyard 2 blocks away that I would try next time.

1 star for customer service; 0 stars for privacy

Pros: Complimentary cookies
Cons: Customer service; lack of privacy
Location: Great location
The hotel was clean but the service was horrible. It took 30 minutes to check me in; the staff had attitudes when asked to do there job. There is only valet at the hotel, but when I called the front desk for my car to be ready they said ok but the car wasn't there (3 times). I asked for fresh towels at 11am and didn't receive them until 11pm even though housekeeping cleaned my room??? Didn't understand that. To top everything off someone came into my room uninvited while I was undressed; management nor security could explain how and why it happened. I felt my privacy was violated and this hotel had the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Bad experience
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Cons: Service
I booked a King room and when i arrived it was a room with 2 doubles. when I called reception I had to wait 10 minutes for manager to answer. There were also no towels, when I was getting undressed at 10pm the cleaner walked in with towels. There has also been a charge added to my credit card of approx $20 however I did not use any ancillary facilities or services. I would not recommend to friends.

Room not ready on time - overcharge for breakfast
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: Umm, nothing.
Cons: A lot.
Location: Good location if you're flying out of JFK
Check in was supposed to be at 3pm...the room we booked wasn't ready and wasn't going to be until 4pm, so we took a different room...the continental breakfast that was supposed to be included wasnt...and when we went to get the 9.99 continental breakfast it came out to $53.99 for 3 people!! And on top of it all, parking was $20 a night...very unhappy overall and I would not suggest this hotel.

Too noisy
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Very close to JFK airport
Cons: Too noisy
Location: It's all about the location - close to JFK
The sound insulation was poor so people coming and going in the night could easily be heard and air conditioning units outside the building were quite noisy. Airplane noise was also a problem. The upkeep of the hotel was reasonable.

Old, tired and surprisingly second rate
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Vehicle pick up was slow in a well-worn bus with torn and cracked leather seats, torn floor coverings and a broken luggage shelf. Clean but worn room in need of renovation. Surly front desk staff. Disinterested bell staff. Charged $10 by bellman to store four bags for several hours prior to my flight departure. Unwilling to bring my stored bags to Federal Circle pickup point after I came back from the City on AirTrain. Made me wait for a pick up to got to the hotel to personally claim my bags and then take me back to the airport for my departure from JFK. In the course of this transaction put me on hold for 10 minutes. When I called from Federal Circle phone, while still on hold, phone was picked up right away. Double Tree and Hilton should get their name off of this property right away. Surprisingly bad experience.
