Nice, reasonably priced

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: The rooms were impeccably clean; the staff was courteous, friendly and welcoming. I liked the cleanliness, quietness and feeling of safety.
Cons: Elevators were slow, but I don't know if that could be fixed.
Location: Fine restaurants.
This was my first NYC outside mid-town Manhattan, deliberately so, because I wanted a different experience and not in Times Square. It's definitely within walking distance of many attractions, including the theater district and nice restaurants . . . if the weather cooperates.

Nice location, not so good employees.

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: I like the location. Chelsea is a nice area with little delis and cafés that are enjoyable.
Cons: I think the employees are in need of a pep talk.
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and it was my second time at the Doubletree Chelsea, the first time I was a ''Hilton Gold'' status and my stay went really well (this was a year ago or so). This time, I found the hotel staff was unwilling to help, very rude and not so knowledgable overall. The room was not cleaned properly; glasses not cleaned and dirty counters. The two elevators are also a pain, we had to wait every single time we wanted to as it would often come down full of clients or housekeeping employees with their carts. Overall disappointing since I really did enjoy my stay the last time... I'm not sure what happened during my stay, it was clearly not worth the price and had I had known, I would've stayed in another location with better service.

Hotel close to Fashion District

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Walkable to most everything Fashion District right out the door. If you walk south, you can venture Wall Street area. If you venture north, Rockefeller plaza, Central Park. It is a hike but enjoyable if you people watch and like shopping
