Nice hotel but ...Posted Apr 20, 2014
Hotel is clean and close to transportation. Rooms were clean but rooms are very small. The biggest problem is the elevator. Only three and they seem to get tied up. Very long wait times for elevator (at least 10 minute wait)

Nice HotelPosted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: It was well located with lots of shops, bars and restaurants not too far and subway station about 2 minutes walk. Taxis were also readily available.
Cons: The elevators were slow to arrive whether you were trying to get to or from your room. Would be nice if they offered free wifi in the lobby.
Location: The Brooklyn Bridge, Seaport, Ferry Crossing, Helicopter Rides all within walking distance.
Overall it was a good hotel. The staff in general were polite enough, but you got the impression the reception staff didn't care if you stayed there or not. The door staff were very nice and welcoming every time you returned to the hotel and helpful. It was clean and comfortable, the room wasn't huge but neither was it tiny by any means. We stayed 5 nights and didn't feel cramped in our room. I would recommend it. I will say there is currently an awful lot of construction work going on in the financial district, which made it noisy, so beware. Also as it is the financial district, shops open later on the weekend, so if you are an early riser, starbucks it is for breakfast!

Nice hotel in the Financial DistrictPosted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: Good location, peaceful, no street noise at night. Near many subway line stations, clean and nice staff.
Cons: The restaurant in the hotel is grossly overpriced, service is not good, and neither is the food. Avoid and go to one of the many great local places.
Good location, peaceful, no street noise at night. Near many subway line stations, clean and nice staff. Also very safe. A stone's throw from Battery Park and the Staten Island Ferry. Also near WTC memorial, Wall Street, Stock Exchange, and a few good shops as well.

Nice, relatively affordable hotel near Wall StreetPosted Apr 14, 2014
Comfortable hotel in convenient location w good amenities. Improvement needed: Elevator wait is on the long, long side, esp. in the morning.

Great value for money. Lots of lift issues thoughPosted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: The friendly staff
Cons: Improve the reliability of the lifts. Warn guests that during peak hours of operation, the lifts will be busy (so they can plan around this)
Location: Great location. 5 minutes walk to the ferries and a number of tube stations
We stayed at the DoubleTree in Manhattan's financial district in late November 2013. The staff were very polite (particularly the doormen), the room was very clean and transportation from the hotel to other areas was extremely easy via the tube. The food in the restaurant was decent but - as is the case with most hotels - it was a little overpriced. For breakfast, i’d recommend visiting one of the many delis or food carts a block or two away. The one major downside of the hotel was its lifts/elevators. They were consistently busy. During the morning rush (8-10am), we waited an average of 20 minutes each morning to squeeze into a lift. A lift was broken for an entire day during the end of our stay, which made it even harder to get to the lobby. Despite the lift issues, we enjoyed our stay. We just had to factor in the time it took to escape the hotel when planning morning activities
