“Superb”
6 of us shared a 2 bedroom apartment - 10g - between the 8th and 14th of September and it was superb. Having stayed in New York hotels before in tiny rooms I was really impressed with the vastness of our apartment. The decor is dates but that didn't matter and we have been informed that the hotel is being re-furbished. The staff were fantastic and the location is great. 10 mins to Grand Central Station, 15 min walk to Times Sq and only a 20 min walk to central park - via 5th ave shops. Frontier restaurant does great breakfasts and is minutes away and if you turn left on 3rd avenue you will find Wharf Bar - great nachos, and a bit further down Bar 515. We will be staying there again in the near future.
“Would stay here again. Very enjoyable.”
We booked the Junior Suite for 5 nights and I loved having a full size refrigerator and dishes and silverware. With a number of convenience stores in the area we were able to buy breakfast items and keep water, fruit, etc. cold. We had a comfortable couch and arm chair, lots of closet space, and a comfortable bed. It's about a 5 block walk to Grand Central Terminal to catch the subway, and there are lots of restaurants in the area. The hotel is enough off the beaten path to be quiter than other areas of town. Helpful staff was also great. Only small drawback is a limited lobby area.
“excellent value hotel!”
Recently returned from a 7-night stay at this hotel,& can't praise it enough. OK, it's not furnished by Phillipe Starcke, but nor is it as run down as some reviews indicate. Huge rooms (we rattled around our one-bed suite, with separate kitchen & living area), v.clean, comfortable & masses of closet space. The staff were V. friendly & helpful (special mention to Erikka!), and the hotel is within an easy walk to midtown's main attractions. We will certainly return!
Etwas kleine Lobby. Der Internet-Zugang (WiFi) kostet extra. Fazit: Jederzeit wieder!
“Already recommended to a friend”
Great location. Staff was great.
“I am looking forward to stay at this hotel next summer.”
We were delighted to have this kind of accomadation. It was like being home, using the facilities of our surroundings like groceries, local news papers and finally being so close to the subway, the parks. Thank you
“very impressed with our stay”
We are a couple in our 30's and were very impressed with our room at the Eastgate Tower, friendly desk service, free safety deposit box in reception. We had a fully fitted kitchen area and loads of wardbrobe space for clothes and storage, comfy bed and clean bathroom, maid service daily was faultless. Situated 2 streets from Chrysler Building and only a short walk from Empire State Building and Times Square we were really satisfied with the position, for a city hotel we were more than satisfied and we'd definately stay there again.
“Great hotel for families”
We have just spent 7 nights at the Eastgate Tower Hotel with a 15 and 10 year old, and the hotel was perfect. Yes the decor of the room is a bit shabby and it could do with being redecorated, but it is clean and the staff could not be more helpful. The two children had the bedroom, a bed each, and my husband and myself had the bed settee, which was very comfortable. The bedroom is large with lots of storage as well a television. The lounge area is huge, the kitchen is small but had everything we needed, fridge and coffee perculator, as we eat out all the time. It is not too far to walk any where and Grand Central Station is nearby. If you need a cab, the porters are more than happy to go out on the street and hail you one.
“Eastgate Tower again”
Our second visit to the Eastgate was again very good, the staff are most helpful and changed our room very promptly with many apologies when the plumbing let us down, they could not have been more efficient. We definitely recomend this hotel.
“Highly recommended for a comfortable, well priced stay in NYC”
OK so the place is as others say 'in need of a face lift' but hey where else can you get as much space for the price? We had a Jnr Suite and it was spotless, there was plenty of hanging space and drawers for our clothes, a sofa and armchair and a dining table with the ability to seat about six. The kitchen had a full-size gas cooker, a microwave and a full height fridge/freezer along with all the necessary utensils apart from a kettle - but you can get round the English persons' need for one of those! The bed was a Queen size so enough space there and the tiled bathroom had a tub with a shower over. Would certainly go back.
