Convenient location

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Close to subway, nice view of midtown from our window.
Location: Right by the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park.
Convenient location is close to subway and nice restaurants on Columbus and Amsterdam Streets. We took deli pastries to Central Park each morning for breakfast.

Nice hotel near the galleries and Central Park

Posted Jul 18, 2014
The hotel was lovely. Nice area near the park and galleries. Location was very good. The staff was helpful, except for the concierge. As tourists, she should have been more helpful! Totally the opposite. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay!

Nice hotel---front staff lacking

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The suite
Cons: See above
Quant suite. Front desk not helpful. When checking in---"Where can I find the ice machine?" "Look at the map in your room" Concierge ---worthless. "Do you have suggestions......" "I don't know you. I don't know what you like". For a service industry---need a few lessons.

Wonderful hotel in perfect location of Uptown Man.

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Read above
Cons: Would be nice if hotel would have coffee machines in each of the room. Also, had to pay for Wireless in your room. At lobby it was free.
Location: As already said excellent location to Central Park. Also the Museum of Natural History just across the road.
Excelsior hotel in a great location of Uptown Manhattan. Teddy Roosevelt part across the street. Central Park a 2 minute walk down 81 street. If you want to go to Downtown, Time Square, or Battery Park (Statue of Liberty) subway very close. What we really liked was the "neighbourhood" feeling of the hotel area. Outside people were walking their dogs and/or children. No problem with availability of restaurants just down the road. Ask for a room facing the Teddy Roosevelt park.

Great location by Central Park

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Location is excellent near subway station and bus lines. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance on Columbus and Amsterdam. Rooms are small but clean. Great view from the 15th floor looking south over the Museum of Natural History. Air conditioning fan is loud. They should make wifi free in the rooms rather than having everyone crowd around the lobby to get access. The biggest downside about this hotel was the front desk staff who don't seem to be interested in providing any service. Bellman tried to get us to take a private car service to Newark airport and said it would be much cheaper than taxi. We were a bit suspicious and decided to take the taxi which turned out less than the price quoted for car service.

Very comfortable hotel on west side

The room was great for our family of 4, clean and very convenient to the subway, quaint restaurants and Central Park. The staff were extremely helpful, with all of our questions. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location!

The room was small but had enough space for everything needed. The hotel was very close to multiple subway stations, lots of really good restaurants, and Central Park.
