The floral quiet of New York

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Pros: Staff and quiet comfortable room if on the small side, when on business and a tight schedule these are important factors for me.
Cons: The hot version of Breakfast....hard scrambled eggs and a version of some sliced sausage didn't cut it
Location: Location was good, walking distance to 34thSt shopping and Subway to get to other areas. Plenty of casual dining if you don't need 'Fine Dining'
For once in many visits to New York I found quiet during the night. Lovely to walk out of a Hotel to row after row of flowers on the footpath a very pleasant brief walk before the hustle and bustle starts. Great staff all round but can't go past all the front end Reception, totally helpful, accommodating and very pleasant. Breakfast for cereal, toast boiled egg and muffin....adequate, the Hot hmmm so so. Will stay again for the quite comfort and staff.

The hotel staff was great.

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: It was in a very convenient location.
Cons: A doorman would make it a little easier to get a cab.
Location: A block and a half from the subway.
The staff was great. The room; although small was very comfortable. Breakfast every morning was well run and efficient. The location was convenient for all of the sights we had chosen to see.

Great price and nice hotel

Posted Apr 7, 2014
The hotel was nice, clean, and a great location for the price. Perfect if you're coming from penn station (only a 10 minute walk). There was a complimentary breakfast that was ok in the morning.. Nice to have some coffee, yogurt, english muffin, etc. I would stay here again.

Surrounded by flower shops and fresh flowers

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: The wonderful smell of flowers lining the whole street
Cons: The parking was expensive. 35.00 for just overnight.
Very good location and very friendly staff. The rooms were small but adequate. I think it could have used more light in the room.

Fairfield Marriott Hotel in Chelsea, New York

Posted Mar 13, 2014
Pros: Absolutely Nothing. It was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Very poor condition.
Cons: The heating, lighting. Very dreary, uncomfortable and COLD! No mirrors, drawers , make up mirrors, extra blankets. No refrigerator.
Location: The location was awful. I didn't feel safe, it was dirty, there was a lot of flowershops, street venders, asian deli's and people just hanging around.
I am a Silver Elite Marriott Rewards member and I stay ONLY in Marriott hotels. Since we moved to Florida and my husband owns a restaurant in New York City, we stay in Marriott hotels in New York City or in New Jersey at least every six weeks. We also stay only in Marriott hotels when we vacation. Check our records. We find Marriotts to be clean, comfortable and affordable. However, this last trip to New York City was a nightmare! Since I was traveling alone, I decided to stay close to our business and booked the Fairfield Marriott in Chelsea, NY. Not only is it in an awful location, the rooms and halls are dark & dreary. The rooms have no dressers or mirrors in them, just a black portable closet, desk and headboard to match. One desk lamp and a bedside lamp with about a 25 watt bulb in it. The room was to dark to even read. The bathroom was just as bad. One small florescent light and a small light in the shower. I had to put my makeup on in the restaurant because I couldn't see. No makeup mirrors or lights. The shower was remodeled and the faucet was directly underneath the shower head and you had to step into the shower to turn it on, which meant that I had to move really fast and step back out of the shower so that I didn't get soaked with cold water before I could step back out of the way. Next, was the heating issue. There wasn't any! The night I arrived it went down about 1:00a.m. and the same thing happened the next night. I thought I would freeze to death!

Very Relaxing

Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: The clean comfortable rooms & very polite friendly staff
Cons: The only thing that would have been nice would be 2 chairs & a table
We only stayed for 3 days 2 nights. I found the staff to be very helpful & polite. Every time you walk in or out you're greeted with a smile & a friendly hello. They were very helpful in helping us pick some place to eat. The rooms were a little small but very nice & clean. The only thing that would have been nice would be 2 chairs & a table. There is a office desk & chair however. Overall I loved & enjoyed my stay there & would definitely stay again.

Good value.

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: location (close to Penn station), cleanliness, affordability, free breakfast and internet, good water pressure, complimentary tea and coffee.
Cons: The heating system could use some work - it required a lot of manual intervention. The disposable dishes could be replaced with real ones.
Location: Penn station, Empire State Building, Korea Town, Little India.
I got exactly what I wanted: an affordable hotel in a decent location with complimentary breakfast and internet, and no bedbugs.
