Good locationPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: A real boutique atmosphere.
Cons: On booking in to be told about possible entertainment noise from attached bar to hotel permeating up to room before 10 or 11pm.
Location: All main sights in upper and midtown manhattan accessible with leisurely walking time.
Good location, well situated between upper east side and midtown. Easy to walk to many locations. Staff very pleasant and room very clean and comfortable.

Friendly staff!Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: The proximity to Grand Central made for a "taxi less" transfer!
Cons: The heater was a bit noisy.
Genuine and accommodating staff made our group feel welcomed.

Nice hotel in good location!Posted Feb 17, 2014
Nice, clean hotel with lots of charm! Not the standard cookie cutter hotel. Staff is very friendly & go out of their way to be helpful! We especially appreciated Mike for all of his great info. Location is right across the street from subway entrance which was great in snowy weather. Our only recommendation to the hotel would be to add some shelves under bathroom sink & add a small dresser in the bedroom -- we had nowhere to unpack.

Tempted to keep this a secretPosted Feb 12, 2014
I travel almost every other week to NYC on biz. Never have I been called bu the front desk 2 min after arriving in my room just to check if I found everything satisfactory. That was just for starters. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They took the time to learn my name and greet me every morning on my way to work and every nite upon my return. I felt right at home. It's a jewel amidst the underwhelming 4 & 5 star hotels that make you feel they are doing you a favor just by saying hello. Well done!

Not greatPosted Feb 12, 2014
The staff here are extremely courteous. This is about all I can say as far as the positive side of my stay at the hotel. The room was very small. The window was facing some awning and lots of alley-oriented office windows, so the curtains had to be completely shut all the time. The light in the room was probably as bright as at Carnegie Hall backstage during a performance. The lighting in the bathroom was not much better; putting on make-up was nearly impossible there. Speaking of the bathroom, there was no ventilator, so the only way to get rid of the post-shower steam was to open the window and let in the freezing winter air. The faucets were worn down, and the metal shelf that hangs over the bathtub was rusty. The carpet in the room looked like it was not steamed since it was put there. All in all, a rather depressing experience. I only stayed one night, so it was ok. I do not plan to return here, however.

A disappointment - I was swayed by the ratingsPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: checking out
Cons: Staff training; better fitness arrangements; new beds; fix the fan; re-install the shower.
Location: As a NYC friend explained later, "this hotel is in the center of town but in the middle of nowhere". That is pretty accurate....
I travel about 30 to 60 days a year and come to NYC 3 to 6 times a year. I tried this hotel because of the ratings. It started badly - check in was old school NY disinterest. I checked in at 5:15 on a Sunday and wanted a workout. They do not have a workout facility on site but said they have an arrangement with a local club. What isn't disclosed is that the club closes at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The concierge simply said "you're out of luck." No "I'm sorry" or a suggestion for an alternative. Whatevs. My room was OK - the bed overly soft - but the fan in the bathroom that came on with the light was so loud I elected to just keep the light off. The shower was hilarious - a first for me. See picture attached - a shower head coming out of the ceiling pointing down. And no, it was NOT a rain shower head. Interesting. And avoid the pub in the lobby - you'll we WAY better off at Chipoltes or the Comfort Diner.

Avoid NYC anxietyPosted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: Courteous, friendly and helpful staff, Room was just the right sixe.
Location: Great place to explore NY off the beaten path.
Hotel is European in feel, convenient to GCS, amd just far enough from the chaos of midtown to feel like a neighborhood.

Very nice hotel near Grand Central Station East.Posted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: Clean , comfortable , friendly .
Cons: Not much .
Location: It just 100 yards from the east entrance of Grand Central Station , as a result access to most parts of the city is a easy. Walkable to Time Square.
We booked this hotel at the last minute and we were extremely pleased. The rooms were clean comfortable and well decorated . It is truly Irish in every way with all the charm , comforts and warmth the Irish bring. The location is excellent and easily accessible to all Mid Town locationsl

Location, location, locationPosted Jan 23, 2014
We stayed three nights over a long weekend and were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. We wanted a hotel near GCT, Bway and museums that didn't cost more than a monthly car payment each night. The room was snug, but big enough, as was the bath with its porcelain (NOT PLASTIC) tub. Housekeeping kept everything spotless, and was absolutely unobtrusive. It is in an older building so the solidly built walls help keep neighbor noise down. Being on a side street that dead-ends on Lexington helped a lot with traffic noise, but also made getting cabs or the subway easy. The bar has an Irish Railroad theme (it is an Irish-owned property) and can be packed at times - probably because the prices are fairly reasonable (for NYC anyway). We would be pleased to stay at the Fitzpatrick again.

Excellent PropertyPosted Jan 15, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness and staff attentiveness and fairness of price.
Cons: Fan in bathroom was loud. Could use more electrical outlets near the desk for charging computers, iPads, phones, etc.
Location: Grand Central Station -- gateway to all subways and mid-town Manhattan.
This is the third or fourth time I've stayed at this conveniently located hotel. It's a fine place to stay, around the corner from Grand Central Station, clean and fairly priced. Staff is especially friendly and helpful. It isn't elegant but a fine mid-town property.
