Good Central Location in NYC

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: Update and redecorate rooms. It needs to be more family friendly.
Location: Easy to Grand Central Station, easy for business appointments great for transportation in and out of the city.
Great location, nice hotel staff. But the hotel needs major updating...there is no mini bar and the cleaning staff is not very accommodating ....with a little bit of effort this could be a great hotel...

Acceptable hotel but probably wouldn't return soon

Posted Jan 13, 2015
We stayed at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel for 5 nights in January 2015. It was well presented in the foyer, if not a little bit tired looking. This continued to be the case with the furnishings, robes and towels in our room- a little tatty, shabby and in need of an update. The lampshade had stains. Our room on level 2 looked over a brick wall and there was a loud ongoing tumble dryer sort of noise all night every night. The lights in the hallway were on all night, which shone through the doorway and kept us awake. Also the walls are paper thin- and our hall neighbours and room service were coming and going at all times. The hotel was ok- just very basic - it's the little details that add up to a great stay. The heating was only located in the bathroom- so we were quite cold at times in below freezing temperatures. The staff were nice and the Wheeltapper pub was cute. No hotel should charge 14.95 a night for in room wifi though- that was disappointing. We didn't have a bad stay but I'd probably look for somewhere different for next time.

New Year's Eve on 44th Street

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: Relaxed friendly atmosphere
Cons: Perhaps renew lifts
Location: On 44th Street and Lexington Avenue just across from Grand Central Station. Short walk from Rockefeller Centre.
Arrived in late evening of 30th December and left on afternoon of 4th January. Location just across from Grand Central Station and subway with only a short walk from Rockefeller Centre. New Years Eve at the Wheeltapper Pub which is part of the Hotel was an experience. New Year's Eve/Day in New York was exactly what was needed followed by watching NY Rangers beat Buffalo Sabres 6-1 at Madison Sq Garden as a lift after my Dad died just before Christmas . All in all just a fantastic time.

Great small hotel in the BIG City

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: Location, size, staff, rooms
Cons: The hotel bar/restaurant I have never had Fish-Chips that fish looked like Chicken Fingers
Location: Was located very close to Grand Central Station
The staff at check in where friendly, professional and helpful since it was my first stay. I appreciated that they called the room to verify if everything was satisfactory and working. Plus if I had any needs to give them a call. The room was clean, the bathroom was large for NYC standards and the bed was very comfortable. My only issue which is minor was the TV was quite small, but I did not come to NYC for the TV shows. I like that it was a small boutique hotel with high standards, a English/Scottish staff, and very professional, you where treated like a guest and not another person!

Central hotel with lovely staff!

Posted Jan 4, 2015
The hotel is literally a few minutes walk from grand central (I struggle with walking and it was easy even for me) which made it a great base for a lot of main attractions - Empire State, Rockefeller,Times Square etc and easy to get down town to ground zero, Statue of Liberty ferries etc via the green lines. The hotel is very nice and more importantly very clean. The bar attached to the hotel Is also pretty cute and was always busy whilst we were there so a good atmosphere. We are there on our first night and the burgers were good. More than anything else I would praise the staff who were consistently pleasant and cheerful, no matter what time of day and they couldn't do enough for you. I'd definitely recommend this hotel :)

Conveniently located for sightseeing the Manhattan

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Location
Overall Not bad, but still too expensive given the room size, even considering it was a Christmas holiday season.
