Good location

Posted Aug 13, 2014
We were at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights from Aug 1-4, 2014. The room was very small but looked nice. We had no view at all (the other building was at about 1 meter from our window) and couldn't open the window as it was locked and screwed. We had problems with the air conditioning system. It was either full-on or not working at all-with no switch. The toilet was noisy and the shower was difficult to turm on/off. The doors in the hallway make a lot of noise when closing. The location was good. The area was safe. A bus on Pearl Street takes you to mid/upper-town. Just at a walking distance from the subway. A laundrymat is a few blocks away. The room was clean. The breakfast was good with eggs, sausages, muffins, waffles, etc. A good hotel if you are just there to sleep!

Pleasantly surprised by size of room and friendliness of staff. Free breakfast available but gets a bit crowded due to size of breakfast area.

The staff was great, and the hotel was very clean. We were walking distance to most of the sights we wanted to see this trip, and just a subway ride away from Central Park. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Acceptable hotel and location.

Small hotel, but staff was helpful and friendly. If you don't expect too much is great. Only bad thing - if you want breakfast at 6 am sharp you must wait 10 min. to load. Recommended . Construction and noise can't avoid - rent a cottage outside New York if you want silence.

Room with a view

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Very accommodating. Arrived prior to the check in time and asked if room was available. Was instructed that I could have a room immediately, but if I still wanted a balcony room the wait would be about 30 minutes. Location was great. I plan to go back to NYC at a later date and will probably stay here again. Staff was amazing.

Convenient, clean and cozy

Posted Jun 20, 2014
My family of 3 checked in late on Friday to a clean and comfy room on the 4th floor. We were surprised that the street noise and construction were not a bother at all. Breakfast was basic but the food was replenished fast and served warm. The staff was friendly and helpful, but room cleaning was usually late at 5-6pm. Overall good, the proximity to the Fulton station (5min walk) and bus M15 right outside were really convenient. We will definitely come back again.

Acceptable

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Convenient but not right in the centre of downtown. The room is clean and the service is acceptable. The inclusion of breakfast is a plus.
Cons: To help the first time travelers, a bigger sign outside the hotel would help.
Location: The Brooklyn Bridge, City Hall and South Port are within walking distance. You can also walk to the 9/11 Memorial within 15 to 20 minutes.
The hotel is at the South Port area. Very close to the Brooklyn Bridge. It is next to a construction site of a school so it may be difficult to find. Our taxi missed the hotel and had to go around the block which costed us extra $5. The room is small but is clean except that the ventilation fan in the toilet did not seem to work. The breakfast has included hot food. The breakfast room is very small but is acceptable. It is close to the free Connection bus stop which can take you to the financial district and the harbour to the status of Liberty. The closest metro station is less than 10 minutes walk.

Comfortable hotel next to Brooklyn Bridge

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Location: This is on the north edge of the financial district, and extremely close to the South Street Seaport, a great place to visit as a tourist.
The Hampton Inn-Seaport is a small hotel right next to the Brooklyn Bridge, not at all grand, but extremely comfortable. Upon arriving (early), I was pleasantly surprised to have a room ready, and was able to check in immediately. The agent at the front desk was very nice, and the lobby, where breakfast is served each morning, had four different types of coffee out for arriving guests (way past breakfast). The room was very clean, the decor pleasant, and the bed very comfortable, although the air conditioning seemed to get caught at the same temp (cold), so we turned it off and open the windows on a beautiful, sunny weekend. I was particularly impressed with an elevator ride with two maintenance men, both of whom were not just friendly, but friendly in the way a hotel team welcomes guests, something you don't always see with staff who aren't concierge or front desk. Kudos to them. The price was reasonable for Manhattan, and I would definitely stay here again.
