“Very good experience”
Very good experience
“Fine hotel accomodations, very convenient location, helpful and friendly staff.”
Was happily surprised to receive an upgrade as soon as we were checking in. Staff was friendly and helpful. Etrusca Bistro (for dinner) in the lobby of the hotel is a hidden gem with high quality food, innovative menu and very fairly priced. The other restaurant in the lobby (breakfast and lunch) should lower its prices. Twenty-two dollars for an egg breakfast is a bit much. I can't judge the food because I didn't eat there...way too expensive.
“Our long weekend was too short!!!”
The central location of the Hilton New York made our long 4-day weekend great!! It enabled us to hit many of Manhattan's highlights...from the Guggenheim on 89th to the SoHo on 4th. The hotel service was great, the room very clean and comfortable...and after walking all day it was a great place to relax!!
“Great Trip!”
Great location for Central Park, Metropolitan, University Club, shopping on Park and 5th Avenue! Easy to get taxis...........Rooms are large and comfortable! Staff was very nice ............wouldn't change a thing!!
“Great Location - Needs Bigger Beds and Climate Control”
I stayed at the New York Hilton numerous times in the late 80's and early 90's as a single businessman and loved the hotel for it's location, comfort and excellent service. This time, I returned with my wife and 2 kids to enjoy a weekend of Christmas shopping and sight-seeing and was somewhat less pleased because the full-size beds were a big small for 2 people in each bed and the temperature continued to run too hot for my comfort despite any attempt to adjust the setting on the thermostat. Here are the details. Pros: Ideal location for access to 5ith avenue shopping, Central Park South, Radio City, MoMA, Times Square, Theatre District and Subway access to everything else! The Hotel is clean, the service is friendly and professional and the rooms are reasonably luxurious and clean. Cons: The 2 full-sized beds should have been Queens. There is plenty of space for this upgrade and the cost for the added comfort would be minimal and wll justified for the premium rates. The thermostat would not regulate the heat and we all had to remove covers during the night due to sweating. I undersand they bolt the windows shut because they don't want any jumpers or projectiles dropped from 20+ stories, but this problem is significant. Also, I think WiFi should be free when you're paying this price! In short, I still like the hotel for the reasons stated above, but I will seek a more comfortable venue in NYC next time I'm travelling with the wife and kids.
“Not what we asked for”
Reserved a king and got a queen - not enough towels or wash cloths and sofa bed with no lines even after 3 requests - no air conditioning. No room for our car in hotel garage and had to park 3 blocks away. Garage only accepted compact cars.
“Would stay there again”
Supurb location. Was a little disappointed in the fact that could not order sandwich at bar even though they were on the menu. Only food available after midnight within the hotel seemed to be room service. The restaurant was only open until 2 p.m. Even though there were plenty of eateries within walking distance, it would have been nice to have a sandwich with my drink in the hotel itsel.
“Wonderful location!”
This hotel is located in the heart of NYC and close to all the fun stuff! Easy to walk to Time Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and the Empire State Building, what more could you ask for?!!! The only one negative thing I have to say is that the cleaning service was lacking in replenishing anything (shampoo, soap, coffee, tea...etc.) we stayed for three nights and after our first night there we never got anything replenished and had to actually call guest service to bring us shampoo and conditioner. They were however very quick at bringing us anything we requested which was nice! The location is the best and the hotel is very nice and clean. I would totally stay there again!
“unbelievable hotel ever stayed”
In the first room me and my wife checked in, someone was still there. Hotel gave us another room which was too small for two. Hotel gave us the third room but there was a towel in the toilet bowl. I complained thier services and the hotel told me not to take it too personal and it is not their concern.
“Room in disrepair, understaffed for holiday weekend, long lines”
There was an enormous line to check our luggage since we arrived a couple of hours prior to check-in time. The desk clerk assured us she would send us a text message as soon as a room was available. We never received a text message and when we went to check in, there was another huge line to check in. I asked to have our bags sent up to our room and was informed it would be at least an hour and a half wait, so we had to stand in yet another line to get our bags. At least 3 of the light switches had shorts in them, the toilet seat was broken, and the outlet next to the bed also seemed to have a short. Our reservation was for 3 people and the room was only equipped for 2. If you want a truly classy hotel I would recommend checking out the non-name brand hotel on W. 56th by Carnegie Hall. (We stayed there for 6 nights and had a suite for a comparable price to standard Hilton room, and much better service.)
