Comfy budget Hotel

I was visiting NYC and orignally stayed at the Wyndham Garden Inn Newark Airport when I arrived for 2 days and did not enjoy my stay. I booked a room at this Holiday Inn for the last part of my NYC trip and I felt much better. This Holiday Inn is modern, the lobby is welcoming and inviting and the room was updated. The room did have a funny smell to it, so I opened a window to help with that. The bathroom ceiling fan emitted a cigarette like smell when turned on. Lastly, thr elevators were very slow.Overall, stay here instead of the nasty Wyndham Garden Inn.

Perfect for Newark Airport lay over.

Pros: Shuttle was quick and easy. Staff were great. Room was clean, with ample space. Beds were super comfortable.
Cons: Restaurant provided only a pricey buffet. It would have been nice to have had an option with lighter, less expensive fare.
Location: Only used hotel as a place to eat and sleep on an overnight lay over.

However, there was only a pricey buffet available (tip is automatically added to the bill). It would have been nice to have had an option with lighter, less expensive fare. Google search may return bed bug issues. I contacted hotel management in advance about this. They took my concern seriously and provided reliable assurances that this is not a problem. Our experience confirmed that.

Excellent shuttle service, no waiting at airport

I selected a different hotel initially, but the shuttle for the other hotel took a very long time. The shuttle for the Holiday Inn was ready and waiting for passengers, so I ended up going to this hotel instead. The hotel was 5 minutes from airport, the shuttle service goes every 10 minutes, but there are at least two shuttle buses always going back and forth, so usually there is one either waiting for you already or the wait is much less than 10 minutes. Shuttle driver was awesome. Helps with my bags and stroller for my 6 month old and gave me the low down of the hotel. The front desk staff were not very helpful. I asked for the lowest rate and they quoted me the standard rate without asking for any memberships or corporate discounts that might have been possible. I ended up booking with Expedia while I was at the front desk since the front desk seemed unwilling to look for lower possible rates. Hotel was very quiet. I had a 10.5 hour layover with my infant daughter and our stay was excellent. I would recommend staying overnight at this hotel to everyone traveling with or without kids. If you don't want to wait for a free shuttle, this hotel is for you since I believe it's the lowest wait time shuttle service available for Newark airport. It's with the extra money to be at the hotel 30 minutes faster when you limited time for a stopover.

Hotel seems to be updated pretty well and is rather clean. The area around the hotel is somewhat dumpy, but we enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

Wonderful stay

Pros: Location , rooms , staff , it was so friendly and clean
Cons: Just the lift in lobby
Location: Well you can get to anywhere in NYC so easily , we hired car went to Long Island visiyed a few nice malls , parked car and crossed across to Manhattan
We booked this hotel just as a quick break , before Christmas , lovely location , nice rooms helpful staff , we have had a lovely time and would come back anytime ,

Good place for layover

But food ridiculously expensive (10$ for 6 cheesesticks for example). Bed a bit hard, they cheaped out there but the room looks quite good for this category of hotel.

Good biz hotel with Bonus Bar

Pros: Free internet is a bonus, 24 hr gym is good, location to free ways also good.
Cons: The guy that mans the bar when Ms Thais is not there is not so pleasant, seems always too busy and never smiles.
Location: Near airport and freeways, nothing in walking distance hence restaurant is so useful, good food and reasonable prices.
The Bar and restaurant is the bonus to this hotel. Good food, salad bar and Ms Thais is very polite and gives great service.
