“wonderful hotel”

it was really close to downtown, area so safe and calm. i recommand this hotel, it's cheap and very very good quality. if i go back to NY be sure i will choose hotel 17

“Good, low-cost hotel: a great base in NYC”

We took our 3 teenaged children who shared a triple room while we shared a double. There was always a clean shared bathroom available when required. Hotels offering en-suite bathrooms would always be my preferred option. However I estimate that, by compromising, we saved about 1000 pounds staying at Hotel 17. That took the pressure off the shopping budget!

“Pretty Cool”

We thought Hotel 17 was really cool, old-fashioned, yet hip. It sort of reminded me of "The Shining" because of the long corridors and the large mirrors that allowed you to see into infinity... we like things like that. Also, shared bathrooms were not an issue, always found one somewhere that was free... We are planning to go back some day when the weather is cooler (although the air-conditioned room did help).

“Great hotel!”

I stayed here for 5 nights in August and loved it! Yes there are no ensuite bathrooms which is not for everyone but I personally didn't find it a problem. They were always spotless as they get cleaned regularly throughout the day. There's 4 bathrooms to each floor but I never had to wait more than a few minutes to use one. The rooms have aircon which in the summer months is a must! I found there to be little noise from the other rooms(unless they have their TV up really really really loud!)and from outside. I had a single room which was I loved - small but well laid out with a sink in the room. There's wireless throughout the hotel but I was on the 5th floor where the signal was quite weak but you can always go down to the lobby to log on. I think this place is excellent value for money especially as you're in Manhattan within easy walking distance to everything downtown; East/West Village/Soho etc and a short bad ride to anywhere else. It's in a very safe area so all in all, I'd say that this place is great and I'd definitely stay again!

“Fan-effing-tastic”

Hotel 17 is the perfect hotel for any New York visitor on a budget. The hotel is impeccably clean with gorgeous wood finishings and decor that reminded me of a 1930's boarding house. There was a 24-hour doorman, an ice machine, and an elevator - none of which I've experienced in other comparable hotels in the area for the same price. I was visiting friends in the city, a few of whom came over to see me in my room, and they were all impressed that I found such a fabulous steal in such a great location. By the way, if you do stay at Hotel 17, you must check out the Greenmarket at Union Square. It's to die for.

“include it in your choices”

Our room was clean and had big free space. Not noisy. It had two big windows facing the street in front of the hotel. 2 clean bathrooms on each floor. TV, Clean towels, soap, shampoo,and conditionner were provided. Sheets and blankets looked clean and good smell. This Hotel is not far from union square and union station, around 4-5 blocks. It's convenient to go get subway, shopping and find breakfast or dinner around the area. However, the price is a little more expensive than some other hotels which have similar room & bathroom condition but not location.

“Pleasantly surpised”

I was recently in NYC for a concert, and just needed an inexpensive, clean place to stay that was close to the concert venue. Hotel 17 fit the bill for that, but I was not expecting such a charming little place...very "old New York". The staff was friendly and helpful, the bathrooms were immaculate, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the neighborhood was just lovely. I would've happily stayed another couple of nights. Highly recommend Hotel 17.

“Good places, save money.”

Clean rooms, sharing the bathrooms wasn't a big deal the bathrooms were always clean. Rarely saw anyone on our floor. The elevator is tiny, never seen one like that before. Close to union square subways will take u anywhere. walking distance to a few bars. request more towels got them in less than 5 mins would definatly recommend.
