For a budget hotel the location was brilliant!Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: The location, the privacy and the free wifi.
Cons: The shared bathrooms on the 6th floor we blocked during my stay which made using them difficult.
Location: You are a 10 minute walk from times square where you pass the empire state building, 4 miles from lower Manhattan and 15 minute walk from Central Park
The location was perfect, i could look up at the empire state building from my 6th floor window. The staff were helpful and friendly even when i checked in at 1am due to a flight delay. I was expecting a tiny single bed and walked into a double bed which was pleasing.

Good location for the pricePosted Mar 9, 2014
There are better hotels but if you are travelling alone or with one other, this place will work. Location is excellent, close to 33rd st. station and bus routes. Cab is easy to flag down from right outside the door. A family of four or one with small children should stay in another hotel due to restroom being down the hall.

Another Delightful StayPosted Feb 24, 2014
Cons: Thermostats for each room--at one point, my room was too warm, and I couldn't change the temperature.
I am glad to have found this place! Inexpensive hotel right near downtown Manhattan, close to the subway line and walking distance to Grand Central. A no-frills hotel, but the place is very clean with nice decor (not like those cheapo roadway motels). The staff have always be polite and attentive--the concierge even offered to store my suitcase when I checked out for the day but still had a morning of sight-seeing to finish. This is my go-to hotel for staying in NYC.

About as affordable as you can get in MidtownPosted Feb 22, 2014
This ain't the Ritz. But the accommodations were decent, and the front desk was helpful. I had one of the rooms with a private bath. If all you need in NYC is an affordable, clean, place to sleep and shower; this fits the bill. WiFi was unreliable on the 8th floor.

Hotel 31Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Lovely, clean and warm, clean ironed cotton sheets, clean bathroom.
Cons: The lift doors are very hard to open when you have a suitcase to get in and out.
Location: Great location, subway around the corner, walking distance to most things.
Hotel room was lovely and warm even though freezing outside, looked to have been decorated since out last stay in 2012. Small room but as not in it much who cares, for the price it is excellent. Shared bathroom next door was cleaned frequently by staff.

Nice location, friendly efficient staffPosted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: The price and the location were why I picked it.
Location: I was in town to do the Empire State Building Run-up for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, and this was just a few blocks away.
This was a great find. The price is certainly right for the location. The shared bath was a little unusual, but not bothersome. The room was just the right size for my needs. I was out most of the days in town.

Best Deal In ManhattanPosted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Quality, price and location
Cons: Maybe a coffee service.
Overall a pleasant experience and the location was perfect. The hotel was better than others that I have paid triple the price over the years. I will be returnin there on my next trip to NYC. It is next to Macy's, Empire State, Manhattan Mall, Time Square and Broadway for the price there is no better deal in the area, even better the quality is superb!!!! A must stay on your next trip.

I loved everything about our stay in Hotel 31. From the staff to the vintage looking rooms. Amazingly clean rooms, conveniently located within walking distance to all major sights and restaurants and not to mention the price. Thank you for the hospitality Hotel 31!
