“Affordable, clean, and quaint hotel!”

Nice, small hotel. Good price and European "feel" to the place. Old-style features (small elevator, common bathrooms) weren't a problem, and keep the price down. Would be happy to return!

I am not familiar with NYC and had to pick my hotel based on what I could find on the internet. This hotel was in a good neighborhood, excellent restaurants and subway stations nearby. Easy walk to 5th Avenue. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Excellent value for the money.

“Good value, good location”

My son and I enjoyed staying in Hotel 31 during a short trip to NYC to celebrate his 18th birthday. The hotel is within walking distance of Grand Central Terminal, where you can take the subway to Times Square (or just about anywhere else, for that matter). If you don't want to walk to Grand Central, simply catch the subway around the corner at 33rd. St. and transfer. Our room was small but nice; we had a perfect view of the Empire State Building (just five blocks away) outside our window. There were two small bathrooms on our side of the floor that were shared by floor guests, but only once in our four-day stay were they both occupied at the same time. One drawback: On our last night's stay, someone kept using the bathroom as a smoking lounge. But overall this is a nice, quaint place with charm and a great midtown location.

hotel very close to main points of interest, walkable distance to Empire and 42nd St. the rooms are nice, clean,some of them with view to the backyard, but its not really important, as u only sleep there. overally very satisfied, one of the best hotels for budget travellers in NYC

“Location, location, location”

We stayed here for 4 days and had a very satisfying experience. The room was a bit small, but then we did not spend much time in it. The bathrooms were always available and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect for our needs. We could walk wherever we wanted to be or catch a bus or train. Would recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget

“Like Living In NY”

There's a difference between visiting NY and living there. Being in this hotel was like living there. Full of charm, character, wood, marble, glass doorknobs, etc. Perfectly located for all activities and needs. Espresso, internet, restaurants, dry cleaning, shoe repair, subway, and banks were all within two blocks. Returning way after midnight was no problem. Hotel service was great and the shared bathrooms were always spotless and almost always available. The rooms are small, but that's NY. The point is to go out and have fun!

“Would stay again”

The Hotel was located withing walking distance to the subway station. I felt very comfortable walking around at night there were place to eat and shop with in walking distance. The rooms were clean and functional not much to them but I did not spend much time in my room.

i love this place...and it's sister location on 17th! okay, the sheets are really thin, but other than that the place is a gem! always super clean with a great staff and the location is too good to pass up!

great place to stay. very reluctant even with great reviews but we will stay again everytime . only neg. is no cafe for morning coffee but dunkin donuts on corner, perfect. subway 1 block away. time square first stop. used subway day and night entire trip. no problems, figured it all out from start. saved a bundle on cabs. 2 blocks from empire state building. lots to do locally even movie theater. convenient store on corner. must try restaurant tonic. great drinks and food. for 2 women traveling alone (mother and daughter) price and location a must.
