I'll stay there any time I'm in NY

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: Location and great staff
Cons: Better heating system, and drainage in the shower needed a bit of work...
Location: Zabar's. And the Museum of Natural History is just across 79th Street at Central Park — if you cross the Park you're in Museum Mile & at the Met.
While the room was small and there seemed to be a heating issue (hot the first night, cold the next), it was clean and nice. Not swanky, not old and tatty, with a welcoming lobby — it felt like a lot of the hotels I've stayed at in Paris, and the staff were really great: friendly, helpful and always at the ready. The lobby is set up for eating and reading, with a tv on (quietly) over the breakfast bar. We used their valet parking and not only did it make parking a non-issue (we were there for the 'blizzard'), the cost was a tad less than if we'd have found our own garage. And what's more convenient than valet parking in NY? As a former New Yorker and Upper West Side resident, I could not have been happier with the location: about 2-1/2 blocks from Zabar's and just 2 blocks from a subway stop (7th Avenue line) and the 79th Street crosstown bus — it was great! There's a handful of breakfast places nearby, too, for pretty much any taste, or you can get a Continental breakfast in the hotel (not complimentary, so why not be more adventurous?).

Great staff but poor infrastructure.

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: The staff was very helpful in every way.
Cons: Improve the access to the wireless internet and fix the TV infrastructure.
Location: Great location to explore the upper west side. Just a few blocks from just about everything.
The hotel looks great from the outside and lobby, but the rooms are very small and the wireless and TV infrastructure need help. It started out with a broken remote control for the TV and then a hair dryer that did not work. The digital stations for the TV were pausing and breaking up, on ALL the channels. Resetting the box did not help. The worst part of the stay was the wireless internet. Most times the access was extremely slow and loose access for hours at the time. Even the premium was not any better, a complete waste of money.

A good experience overall! Very friendly and helpful staff! Rooms are quite small, but nice! The hotel has an elegant and romantic touch. Elevators are tiny...

Fantastic hotel

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Stayed here for a week in January 2015 When we got there we were greeted by friendly staff and even got a free upgrade due to the fact that they were not too busy. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay on Broadway due it's close proximity to everything including the subway. Nice quiet area with good restaurants and bars close by. Rooms are a good size and the beds extremely comfy!!! The shower situation is a little 1920's but works there wasn't a bath which in -12c you need one! Overall very impressed with this hotel and has an amazing amount of character!

Deluxe King room very small. Bathroom shower stall very cramped. Room was extremely hot, we were thankful we had window to open. Breakfast which was included consisted of one beverage and one danish or bagel.

Pros: it was clean.
Cons: the attitude of the manager
Location: near to subway and some good shops and bakeries and a good restaurant on opposite side of the road
the staff in the main were cheerful and helpful except for the manager who was grumpy and very unhelpful. The room was too hot we had air con on even thou it -4 outside!

Carino

Posted Jan 13, 2015

Convenient Location

Posted Jan 13, 2015
It was a nice, clean room. be patient when adjusting shower and room temperature because the heater works better than you would expect and the shower takes a while to heat up and to cool off. At least in my room.
