A nice hotel with character!Posted Apr 16, 2014
This was my first trip to New York and I was so pleased with our hotel. It's recently been redone, but still has the charm that I was hoping to experience. We had a deluxe queen room and although it was smaller, it was super cozy and had everything that we needed. The radiator heat can be adjusted in your room and one night when we accidentally left it on too high, we raised the window and slept. Our room was on the third floor and the corner of Broadway and the street noise didn't bother us at all. The staff was always helpful in finding local places to eat, catching a cab and anything else that we needed. It's close to the subway, Fairway market is right down the street (there's a fridge in the room,) 24 hour pizza slices are one block up and it's a short walk to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. What more do you need?

Excellent hotel in a good locationPosted Apr 10, 2014
Had a fantastic stay at Hotel Belleclaire. We'd had delay trouble with our flights into NY and our luggage did not arrive with us. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, giving us advice, contacting the airline and taking delivery of the luggage when it finally turned up. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable in a great location. Close enough to the action but in a quieter spot, and the subway is just up the road to be able to get anywhere further afield. We've been to NY for times and this has been the best hotel so far.

Very pleasant stay at this hotelPosted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Not as expensive as midtown or downtown hotels.
Cons: New windows!
I recently spent six days in New York with my two teenage daughters. The Belleclaire Hotel is a very pleasant hotel in uptown Manhattan. The hotel was clean with very good facilities, the room was perhaps a bit on the small side and unfortunately ours was very noisy as the window would not shut properly, but it was not enough to disturb sleep. The room however was clean and all facilities were perfectly adequate for our needs. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and polite. Unfortunately the media suite was not working during our stay as it was being updated but the reception staff were able to complete our airline on-line check in for us. The only downside is that the location is the opposite end to where most of the attractions are, but then the fact that it is uptown is a bit of a give away and it also means you can keep costs down if you are on a budget. I would recommend this hotel if you are prepared to travel downtown most days.

Nice hotel but needs a bit of fixing upPosted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: The beds were comfortable and always freshly made etc. Rooms were well decorated.
Cons: Fix up broken things like holes in windows and banging radiators & be a bit more informative - you should advertise things like your airport tranfers.
Location: Location was just beside central park next to natural history museum. bit of a walk away from the main attractions but it was a nice area to be in.
The room's themselves are nice and welcoming and the hotel on arrival looked beautiful. However our room was too small for 2 people and the bed was not a full double. The radiator also made such a noise that it kept us up through the night, to be fair to the hotel however they did upgrade us for free to a massive room. Despite this the noise level in this room was just as bad and there was a gap in the window meaning we had no choice but to keep the loud radiator on. Overall the hotel is old and needs some fixing up, it may look nice and the beds are comfortable however as I say the radiators are really loud and windows don't close properly etc. It was a bit of a pain, especially when exhausted after all the New York walking - it was not ideal to be woken up at 3am. Some hotel staff - particulalry those who collect the luggage and stand at the door etc can't do enough for you. Can't say the same for reception staff however - some were really nice but some just seemed like they couldn't be bothered handing out info. There is a restaurant that delivers to the hotel free of charge and when I went to ask for the menu and how to go about ordering I simply got a menu tossed at me then she turned her back (after she had ignored me standing at the desk). They also supplied us confusing and incorrect info when we booked buses to the shopping outlets and failed to tell us about their cheap airport transfers. All in all not the worst but wouldnt recommend.

Loved it!!Posted Apr 1, 2014
We couldn't have picked a better hotel, in a perfect location we walked to the Museum of Natural History and Central Park, it's a 2 minute walk from a subway station which connects you to all over New York, the room was kept tidy, the staff were friendly and happy to help! Couldn't fault it :) Now to start saving to go back :)

7 nights at Hotel BelleclairePosted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: Friendly helpful staff in a hotel with real character.
Cons: Coffee facilities in the rooms. Less noisy radiators.
Location: Near the great walks of Central Park, Near good restaurants: The "Cottage" is very good value for money Chinese: "Pier 72" is a great breakfast Diner.
The location is good. Near the great walks of Central Park, Near good restaurants: The "Cottage" is very good value for money Chinese: "Pier 72" is a great breakfast Diner. Just 10 minutes walk from the metro on 79th, and 15 minutes from 72nd. The room was comfortable. A shower rather than a bath, but the shower was reliable and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful; No room coffee, but a coffee shop around the corner, and breakfast coffee in the lobby for $2.50 a cup. The radiator in my room clanked sometimes. Just 15 minutes walk from the Cinema at Lincoln Square.A memorable trip in a cold, dry, sunny New York Spring. Tip: Go to TKT for theatre tickets Monday to Thursday after 4pm when the cues are shorter, and make a list of the shows you'd like to see beforehand. .

Excellent UWS HotelPosted Mar 28, 2014
Pros: Location and rooms
Location: Visit Freds on 83rd and Amsterdam. Great food and atmosphere. The Gin Mill is a great bar with half price drinks between 12-8 every day.
Great hotel on the UWS of Central Park. Rooms are nicely decorated and beds are really comfortable. Great bars and eateries nearby and only 2 blocks from the subway. Would definately recommend.
