Affordable hotel

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: The price and location.
Cons: Put lights in the bathrooms!
Location: Convenient to all subway lines. Reasonably quiet at night.
I had stayed at the Carter several times before, so knew what to expect. Cleanliness was good, but was disappointed that there was no light in the bathroom. It was O K for 1 or 2 night stay, but would not want to make an extended stay there.

great location shame about the hotel

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: its location
Cons: err almost everything needs updating and cleaning or replaced.
Location: right at the heart of new York city times square right up the street.
Our room was appalling the shower looked 30 years old the bath older no plugs in either bath or sink very poor decoration looked like the rooms had not changed since the sixties. No drawers or storage anywhere. The rest of the hotel looked much the same worn out furniture, over painted radiators and wood work you know the type painted ten times , very gloomy through out, but you can not fault the location right in the heart of New York. Its a shame the hotel owners don't realise that, but if they did there is no way it would be this cheap to stay in !! Plus there is a small café attached open all hours reasonable food and coffee.

Pictures speak louder than words.

Unfortunately the pictures on Expedia are NOT AT ALL like the real thing. We put our bags down and immediately called expedia to cancel.

Ok hotel if not fussy

Posted Sep 10, 2014
The Carter is a great base for exploring NYC. Room was basic, needs a refurb but if you are easily pleased like me it does the job for a good affordable price for it's position near Times Square

Great location very near to Times square Hotel was very basic but for the cost of the hotel was okay Think if I go again and with a group of lads would book it again as you only need a bed to sleep in too busy sightseeing Rooms cleaned every other day Beds very comfortable Would not recommend for couples

Right near Times Square

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: The convenience of the location to Times Square, Broadway and the subway
Cons: A full renovation would be in order to help them compete with the other hotels in the area, and get staff that want to be there.
Location: Times Square, Broadway and subway all within 2 minutes walk. The other attractions are easy to get to by the subway.
If you're only using your accommodation to sleep, then this may suit you. The room we had was old, smelt musty, the only door that shut was the front door, and half of the power outlets were taped over because they didn't work. The staff were ok. They tried to be helpful, but you could tell they didn't want to as it was interrupting their social life. I personally wouldn't stay there again.
