“Better when construction finished”
Clean, good location. Expensive in December and the hotel is undergoing significant renovation. Probably charming when it's all through.
“Nicely appointed; will visit once renovation complete”
Very nice hotel but with a lobby renovation going on when I arrived and no restaurant as a result. So I walked somewhere for a lovely dinner (Duo, on Madison), but will visit again if the rates are right and the lobby is done.
“not impressed”
There is a renovation in hotel, the loby is very tiny. however that is not what caused my rating 3; the main reason for that is the service of front desk staff. it seems the problem with electronic keys is quite frequent, during our check in 2 people were requesting to reprogram the key. it happens to me in one morning too. when i came to the desk, there was another guest with the same problem. as people go to the breakfest in a morning, typically nobody takes walet of purse to the breakfast room in hotel. the photo ID is required to get key reprogrammed. It is perfectly understandible to have such request, but what is not acceptable is the fact that after your identity was checked by address and phone the key is not reprogrammed, but guest just sent to its room, basically i was told the key's issue is taken care of when it was not. the problem still existed and i was requested to show the ID to hotel person once the room will be opened by that person. Everything together took 30 min. I think it should have been not only easier, but more importantly more honestly to send somebody to verify identity in a room from a begining.
“A Little Gem in the Heart of NYC!”
Even though the lobby was undergoing renovation, the ambience is wonderful for a tiny hotel. The room, while small, showed the best space planning I've seen. Luxury towels & bed linens. Super flat screen TV. Turndown service. Wine & cheese hour (with a very nice chardonnay) and breakfast pastry and outstanding coffee in the a.m. We'll be back!
“Super kind and helpful team”
Hotel Chandler is going through renovations, so the hotel will be even better shortly. The team was very kind and considerate with me (late arrival) and were very accommodating given all the work they had to go through because of works in the hotel. Breakfast and afternoon snacks were offered complimentary PLUS a nice bottle of Californian wine. The room was spotless and everything functioned perfectly. I wish I had had a bit more space besides the closet but I still had enough room for everything. Besides that, all perfect. I had the opportunity to interact with the hotel team and everybody was super and genuinely nice. I appreciated that. Location is also very convenient for work in midtown or wondering around in the Flatiron and Chelsea districts, which are full of restaurants, bars and parks. Hope you will enjoy as I did!
“Staying here if I ever get a chance to go back to NYC!”
Even though the hotel was in the middle of renovation, I was still very impressed.!! Plus, the hotel gave nice amenities (i.e. free continental breakfast) to compensate. The location was awesome!! The room (junior suite) was more spacious than I expected. Also, the staff was courteous and quite helpful.
“Great Boutique for a Great Price”
The staff could not have been more friendly and more helpful, and the hotel was a perfect place to stay for a visit... Wonderful location, wonderfully economical. And the service alone made this a place I will definitely return to.
“Renovation an inconvenience.”
Meeting my brother and his wife there dictates a lot of my sentiment for this review. Since there was renovation occurring, we did not have a place to sit and visit on the premises. The rooms (like most in NYC) are so small that you can't have guests so there was no place to relax at the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located between Time Square and Greenwich Village so if you visit both it is okay. If you are leaning toward either being most of your trip, another hotel would be more convenient. My room was okay but my brother's shower door leaked and each time they took a shower, the entire bathroom floor was wet and they had to use all of their towels to soak it up.
“Will stay there next time; Friendly and convenient”
The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Even during the record hot week of the summer, I felt comfortable and welcome and hardly noticed the work going on to add a new restaurant, which would be another plus for a future visit. I was a little concerned prior tpo my visit because a couple of reviewers spoke about small rooms, but the size was certainly not tiny and the cleanliness and service was great. I walked to the hotel from Penn Station easily and took a taxi upon departure only because of the 100 degree temps and my extra purchases bag.
“Considering it's NYC, great price for a good hotel”
Great staff from the bell boy to the front desk to the waiters everybody was friendly, knowledgeable about the city and lending overall great service. Being NYC it's to be expected that the rooms one can get at an affordable price are very small, and this was the case. Nevertheless the decoration was modern and nice and the location in midtown Manhattan puts you at an arms length of almost anywhere you want to go. For the price and the options the city has in this area, I would happily return.
