Staff all first class they could not do enough for you, hotel in great location for walking to all attractions, room was very clean and comfortable with bedding and towels changed daily

The Chandler is a very convenient, comfortable hotel. We particularly like the public rooms--not a large, busy lobby, but smaller, more intimate spaces.

A good base for a shopping trip to New York.

Pros: Hot tea and coffee were available in the reception area 24 hours per day. There was a calmness and professionalism pervading the hotel at all times.
Cons: The noise from the street could be intrusive and sleep disruptive at times, but not the fault of the hotel.
Location: We found the hotel to be well situated for our intentions in NY which were largely based on shopping and visiting the theatre.
We stayed for four nights in a 'superior room' overlooking E 31st St. A very clean,comfortable and welcoming hotel which was perfectly adequate for the purpose of our visit - not ostentatious or pretentious, but offering a great value for money service. Staff were warm and obliging in every respect. Our room was plenty big enough with daily attention to bed linen, towels and toiletries. The Juni restaurant is within the building providing breakfast and dinner opportunities and there is a bar. We had problems with the heating and lighting on separate occasions and they were attended to immediately and effectively.

High Quality Boutique Hotel near shopping district

Pros: Size which helps make it quiet. Location is excellent away from the maddening crowds but close enough to be where you'll want to be in NYC. Staff .
Cons: It's a small boutique hotel so don't expect all the fancy amenities of a larger hotel.
Location: One-half block off 5th Avenue. One block from Empire State Building. 6 blocks from Macy's at Herald Square. Also 6 blocks from Penn Station.
Small boutique hotel one-half block from 5th Avenue near Empire State Building and subway lines. Reasonable walking distance to shopping districts. Staff is friendly,excellent and multilingual. Not luxurious but tastefully designed and maintained. Michelin Star restaurant located on property. Rooms in older part are tasteful, clean and small. Rooms in renovated area are excellent and spacious. Definitely an excellent bargain.

Tired Hotel

Location: Not a great location - hard to get a taxi in the location
Hotel is tired - needs a definite facelift in the common areas. The fitness center was awful - one treadmill and no headset and TV! Rooms weren't ready when we arrived at 4 pm!

Pros: The staff was what I liked most. Everyone from the concierge to the reservation clerk and bellman went out of their way to make me comfortable.
Cons: Nothing at all, truly. It was perfect.
Location: The location has nice restaurants nearby. It's within walking distance to the Empire State Building. I'm unsure of what more is in the area.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They are truly kind and generous in giving help wherever needed. I found all staff friendly and engaging, going out of their way to ask about my trip and whether it was a good one. They recommended a Persian restaurant just around the corner that had the best Persian food I've ever eaten. I was especially grateful that there is always hot coffee and tea in the lobby area- so wonderful to not have to go out first thing in the morning. Overall everything here was excellent. I can't think of anything that needed improvement.

Nice boutique hotel on a quiet street

Pros: I like the fact that this hotel was on a quiet street away from the noise. It was very relaxing after a busy day.
Location: All the top attractions are within walking distance of this hotel.
This is a great boutique hotel on a quiet street but still in the heart of the city and close to everything. Staff was friendly and the concierge was very helpful with directions and dinner recommendations.

Pros: スタッフの丁寧でやさしいところ。
Cons: ロビーにお湯(紅茶や緑茶のティーバッグが6種類ほど常備)とコーヒーが備え付けてあるんですが2度ほどお湯が空の時があったので確認頻度を増やしてほしいなと思いました。または部屋にポットがなかったのであってもいいかなと思いました。
Location: マンハッタンの真ん中より少し下あたりに位置しているので30分~1時間あれば徒歩や地下鉄であちこち行けます。 人気パンケーキがあるサラベスやNYニックスの試合が見れるマディソンスクエアガーデン・グランド・セントラル駅なら歩いていける距離です。
5日間滞在しましたが、スタッフのみなさんが気軽に挨拶してくれたりタクシーが必要かなどとてもやさしい対応をしていただけます。 チェックインの際にカードキーと一緒に市内のマップをいただけたので地下鉄の場所など日中の観光に大変重宝しました。 部屋はコンパクトでバスタブがない部屋でしたが、清潔感がありました。 ニューヨークはホテルが割高なのでそれを考えると立地もよかったので良心的な値段設定ではないでしょうか。

Not what we expected...

Pros: The concierge was fantastic and so were the bellman. The front desk staff made us feel insignificant and any request for better was an upcharge
Location: Great location and easy to get anywhere in Manhatten.
We were disappointed in the room. It was very very small and dark. When we asked for a room that look to the outside (not a brick wall) we were told it would be an additional $130 per night. When they showed us that room it still had no view and was just a bit bigger. This was very disappointing and we chose to stay in the room we were given. Additionally, we requested 3 separate times for a 2pm check out and on all 3 occasions we were told it wouldn't be a problem. However, on our day of departure we were contacted by housekeeping at 1pm rudely wanting to know if we were checking out. We had 8 hours of travel ahead and were attempting to rest prior to going to the airport for our 5:30 flight. Not 3 minutes later we received a very rude call from the front desk questioning who we talked to about a late check out, why they would never allow that on this day and we needed to vacate the room immediately because they needed it. When I said a needed to shower she said "I'll check with my manager and call you back". I raced into the shower and frantically prepared to get out of the room. She called back 15 minutes later and said "as a courtesy we will allow your late check out." Nevermind... we were already flying out of the room with wet hair etc. Not happy with the way this was handled at all. We spent a lot of money and felt very unimportant (room type and upgrade charge) and very disrespected.
