Hidden gem

Wonderful hotel with excellent staff. Big rooms, perfectly clean, wonderful breakfast and the complimentary cheese and wine a blessing at the end of a busy days sightseeing. The hotel is perfectly placed for walking the streets of NY.

Flying visit to New York

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Hotel was nice, but surprised that the reception area was also the bar and breakfast area too. Not enough comfortable seating really. I was only there for one night but couldn't recommend value for money. Over GBP 300 for one room for one night!

Very nice boutique hotel

Cons: No specific hotel restaurant so breakfast is basic.
Good location. Helpful staff. Nice touches with preparing the room and the cheese/wine.

Great location, helpful staff

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, complimentary food and wine.
Cons: Room comfort
Location: Great location on the metro and close to many things.
We liked the feel of this place. Good complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres and wine. Helpful staff and good location. Rooms a bit small, old fashioned bathrooms, beds a bit hard.

Lovely hotel, faultless staff, awful jazz music

Posted Mar 23, 2014
Pros: Everything except the morning jazz.
Cons: Turn off the jazz at breakfast. We don't need music at breakfast, just coffee and fruit.
Location: Central - what's not to do?
I would not hesitate to stay at Giraffe again - rooms are a decent size, the staff can't help you enough, everything is thoughtfully included. But every morning over breakfast, the PA plays traditional jazz that seems to mainly focus on squealing trumpets played at a very high pitch. Every morning. Too much....

Great small boutique hotel close to Union Square

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The continental breakfast mid day snacks and wine and cheese was an added bonus.

Close to my venue

Posted Jan 26, 2014
Pros: Number one, the staff, the people behind the desk, the people who opened doors, the people who poured my wine and the people who smiled.
Cons: I think you are doing just about everything right.
Location: I was working the whole time so didn't get a chance to explore. I had poor Thai food on 26th street and wouldn't recommend that to anyone.
I was attending a trade show across the street from Giraffe - the 69 Regiment Armory to be exact. The hotel was extremely close and made my stay in NYC very easy. The staff was extremely helpful at all times. They valet parked my van and had it ready and waiting for me at the time I requested. The small but very cheerful happy hour with complimentary wine was delightful and made even more so by the staff. The morning breakfast, though not very sophisticated, was fresh, tasty and plentiful. The fresh fruit was very good. One night I had a room service supper which was only so-so. Compared to the meal I had the night before it was an improvement but still nothing to write home about. I wasn't in New York to eat so this was not a big deal with me as the price was still quite reasonable. The sound from Park Avenue was extremely loud at times, even on the sixth floor. I usually travel with a fan to add ambient background sound and I'm glad I did. To end, I loved my stay and will stay again next year.

Cosy and friendly

Posted Jan 19, 2014
Pros: The complimentary cheese and wine was amazing.
Location: Many great restaurants minutes walk away but not too loud or busy for New York.
Stayed here with my wife for New Year. For me, this is the best hotel to stay at in New York. Great staff, great rooms and fairly quiet. Will stay at Hotel Giraffe again.
