Great location, but at night it was difficult to sleep due to the noise from the street in front of hotel. Staff was very kind but did not help when I told them my room was too cold.

Typisches Stadthotel in sehr guter LagePosted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Lage, Sauberkeit
Cons: ein bisschen mehr Platz beim Frühstücken
Location: direkt beim Empire State Building, also sehr zentral

We would stay again.Posted Dec 31, 2014
Pros: The staff was friendly and worked hard. The hotel and rooms were clean, even if showed wear and tear. Good location and price.
Cons: The shower mixer could not hold a steady temperature, but we managed. Rooms, TV, etc were old. But we didn't visit New York to sit in the room!
Location: See above. Very handy location, especially if heading Downtown on subway. I think we made it from the hotel to Battery Park in about 12 minutes.
Hotel is old. Beds are clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless. Hotel is in good area and within walking distance to Empire State Building and Macy's and right on the 4, 5, 6 subway line. Easy and quick access downtown to Wall Street, Bowling Green, American Indian Museum, Battery Park, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero and 9-1-1 Museum as well as Uptown. Price of our stay was the cheapest we found for four people. Room had one full bed and two singles. Breakfast room was crowded, and food was, eh, OK at best. Why would we stay again? The staff was excellent. Very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The manager held our bags after check out while we did some more sightseeing and arranged for a car back to the airport later in the afternoon. The worst part of our stay was that the elevator was sloooooooooow. And we could certainly deal with that.

Unusual Manhattan little placePosted Dec 27, 2014
I got this one last minute for a Christmas stay. While the hotel is a typical "non-chain/non-luxury" in rooms, and the room has no view, the bed was quite comfortable, front desk was cooperative and helpful and the lady helping at the breakfast was a surprise (i am not used to be offered breakfast in Manhattan hotels for the price i paid of around USD150. Simple breakfast, but enough to get you going.) Plus the subway green line is at 50 meters...

Not staying there againPosted Dec 23, 2014
The room small and there was no heat. Called the front desk and a tech came up and said it was on. Not recommended

Great location but not quite suitable for winter..Posted Dec 22, 2014
The hotel was quaint and was right down the road from the Empire State building, however it was 29 degrees outside and the window was propped open by an A/C unit. When we came back to the room around 8 pm , our room was absolutely freezing. I was very disappointed because on top it being a frigid room, there were only linens on the bed, no comforter, just thin sheets of linen. The temperature was just far too cold for the window propped open by an A/C unit. Needless to say, we had to sleep in the layers we were dressed with that day to keep us warm. Despite the discomfort, the room was a reasonable size for a New York hotel room and it was pretty clean. Our experience was okay because we only spent one night there but I was extremely disappointed that we paid for a hotel room and we couldn't get a good nights rest because we were so cold. Perhaps not all of the rooms are like this but I do not think that we will return next winter.
