Pros: The location and larger sized rooms. Plus having a coffee maker in the room was fabulous!
The hotel is a perfect location in Midtown. It is extremely nice with warm, clean and a bit larger rooms. The staff is delightful and always pleasant to the guests.

Excellent location

Pros: Location
The Hotel Mela is in a terrific location near Times Square. We could walk to most of the main attractions. The room was quiet and comfortable. Virgil's BBQ a few doors down was our restaurant of choice.

Ok

Cons: Useable fridge
It was close to amenities. The staff were accommodating but to have a useable fridge would be an asset

Nice hotel in convenient location

Posted Nov 15, 2014
Pros:
Hotel is located in midtown Manhattan in the Theater District, very close to Times Square. It's a short walk to the subways, the shows, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center, Hell's Kitchen. However, because it is close to all these tourist sights, noise level can be high outside the hotel if you get a room that is facing 44th street. Ear plugs cut down the noise, so not a problem. Our room was small, but only used it to sleep so again, not a problem. Overall, for the price and location, Hotel Mela would be an excellent choice.

Hotel Mela - September/October 2014

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: The location near Times Square and subway stations. The hotel lobby, elevator & our room were always clean and tidy. The hotel was quiet.
Cons: Elevators were slow and staff were not as engaged in providing information as we would have liked.
Location: Great location near Times Square. Easy access to subway & hop on-hop off bus tours. Close to Broadway theaters & Hell's Kitchen for fabulous food.
Quaint little hotel tucked away from the hustle & bustle of Times Square, but close enough for quick access to attractions and transit. Considering how close we were to Times Square, the hotel was a quiet refuge from the busy & noisy streets of Manhattan. The two rooms we looked at were unique, beautifully decorated & arranged for such small spaces. We chose a room with a smaller bed, but larger bathroom and a desk. The staff was always courteous, but we twice received incorrect information concerning which subway to take. When asked for a list of AA meeting nearby, one clerk simply handed me a page with the link to the NY chapter of AA, but no actual meetings. Overall, we would highly recommend Hotel Mela.
