Fabulous hotel, superb location

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Free wifi, complimentary breakfast (yummy muffins!), great restaurant, lovely room with fantastic view of the Empire State Building, rooftop bar
Cons: Struggling to think of anything
Location: Fantastic location, near 5th Avenue, Macy's, Times Square, Broadway, subway station
We had a fantastic time at this lovely hotel, it is hard to fault it and we will definitely be back. Location couldn't be better!

Ok hotel, close to Penn Station

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: breakfast
Location: Penn station, subway, Macys
Location is very convenient, right next to the subway station, walking distance to Penn station. The room was really small, though got an upgrade upon arrival and had coffee maker in room. You can get free coffee/tea 24h in the restaurant. Breakfast choices are extremely limited.

Hotel Metro

Posted Jun 11, 2014
We only stayed here for one night but on future trips to New York this will be our hotel of choice. For the price the hotel gives excellent value and is well appointed and very clean. Check in was easy and the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choice. here the staff could have been a little friendlier but overall the breakfast experience was very good. Rooms were comfortable, well furnished and very clean.

Service in style

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: The entrance lobby, the friendly and helpful service, and the cleanliness of the rooms.
Cons: Bigger breakfast area, but it was usually possible to find a table.
Location: Brilliant location for New York sight-seeing, one block away from the Empire State Building. Only 2 blocks from Penn Station, easy for bus/subway.
Hotel Metro is a lovely hotel in an excellent mid-town Manhattan location. Its roof-top terrace bar, bang opposite the top of the Empire State Building couldn't better. But I liked this hotel because of its style, its service, and its comfortable rooms. It was reassuring to know one could return at the end of a hectic day's sight-seeing to a wonderfully clean room with fresh towels, bedsheets, and everything as it should be. From the smart art-deco entrance lobby with Greta Garbo photos to the efficient lift service and breakfast provision, from the comfortable suite-like rooms with sitting areas and every facility to the friendly and helpful reception service, this hotel offers all that one could possibly wish for in a central New York hotel.

Great hotel in central location

Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: Tranquil, roof terrace view, helpful staff.
Cons: Maybe something else for breakfast, I don't want to eat another bagel for a while.
Location: Good location, near Macy's and Empire State building. If we got lost we just aimed for the ESB. Subway stop nearby.
We went to the Hotel Metrol on our honeymoon. We had a premium room which was comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly and gave us some helpful tips. The location was very handy for sightseeing. The hotel felt like a tranquil place to rest after a busy day sightseeing. Great roof terrace with the view of the Empire State Building.

WELL LOCATED BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Posted May 20, 2014
Pros: Location, furnishings, nice rooftop bar area, with a great view of the Empire State Building. They also offer a cont'l bkfst, and 24/7 coffee/tea
Cons: Better soundproofing in the rooms facing the inside.
Location: Great location between 5th and 6th Aves. Subway half a block away, and Macy's just beyond that. Empire State Building around the corner.
Front desk staff extremely nice and chatty when I checked in. My room was on an inside corner, overlooking the hotel's HVAC units, so I got a little more noise than I needed when the units kicked in. The AC unit in the room seemed loud to me, also, as it cycled on and off throughout the night. The room itself was clean, certainly not huge but more than adequate (I've had smaller rooms in NYC before), and very comfortable. This particular room was kind of awkward: when entering, you had to maneuver around the armoire to get in. This would have been inconvenient had I been traveling with luggage larger than a carry-on. I am in NYC a few times a year, and would stay here again.

Bad experience

Posted May 18, 2014
Cons: Staff attitude and perhaps a new manager?
On the second day my the wi-fi in my room stopped working. When I reported this to the staff, the curt answer was, well nobody else reported problems. When I told them that I needed the connection I was told to use the business facilities. The hotel has no technical support, and when I asked for the telephone company of the wif-fi provider I was told that they do not have it, becsause they switched companies recently. Quesion: how can you run a hotel without being able to connect your internet provider???
