Couldn't be better!

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: The hotel offers everything you could ask for and more.
Cons: The only improvement would be the size of family rooms should be greater.
Location: The location is perfect for shopping, fine dining, sightseeing and anything else that you desire to do the transport is fab along with the location.
The hotel is in an amazing location, perfect to visit every aspect of New York. Situated near amazing shops and beautiful restaurants. The staff make the stay even better and will go out of there way to improve your stay. The hotel is more expensive than an average hotel but completely worth every penny for all the small things they offer which makes the stay better.

Pros: Location and its european ambiance.
Cons: Perhaps the bathrooms.
Location: Great for the museum mile and the Smart shops of Madison Av.
The hotel is very pleasant, with a european feel. Very good restaurant. Rooms are comfortable bu it needs a bit of maintenance. The employees at the front desk, outstanding.

Plaza Athenee is in a great location, close to Central Park, fun shopping and quiet street. While our room (707) was, overall, very nice (king size bed, lovely linens, exceptional bath with large shower and separate soaking tub) the view immediately outside our window was the big disappointment. It was almost unbelievable that we were paying over $500 a night for a room with whose balcony was cluttered with used paint cans, equipment and wiring that, perhaps, someone had forgotten about or just didn't bother to remove. Also, we looked directly into rows of condominium windows, rooftops with nasty air conditioning equipment, etc. Yes, we did ask to move to another room but none were available.

Pros: The location was the main reason for choosing this hotel. For our events & activities, it was ideal, offering options to walk & access to Metro & cabs
Cons: nothing
Location: Museum row, central park, shops on Madison, restaurants etc
I had a comfortable and pleasant stay. The staff was excellent, helpful in every way, from bellhop services to courtesy at the bar and nightly turndowns.

A true comfort zone

Posted Jun 7, 2014
Pros: It was, quiet and peaceful. The size was pleasant, without crowds of people.
Cons: The restaurant and room mini bar is very expensive for it's quality.
Location: We walked everywhere from this location, including the theatre district, through Central Park, the Neu Museum, The Met, Moma. Window-shopping Madison
Staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. Location was convenient to museums, shopping and a great place to walk from in early June.

Quiet Refined Upper East Side Refuge

Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: Location, wuality
Cons: Free WiFi
Location: Right next to Central Park, Madison and 5th Ave shopping, subway, excellent restaurants
My 2 teenaged daughters and I stayed at the Plaza Athenee for a long weekend in May. We had booked a standard room through Expedia. When we arrived the staff were wonderful and welcoming, and offered to upgrade our room to a larger size with two beds and a roll-away. The room was quite spacious with a lovely marble bathroom. The housekeeping was impeccable and the sheets are changed daily. Free paper at your door every morning. The hotel is on a quiet street and we all slept like rocks - it was like being nestled in a quiet refuge in the big city! The location was 2 blocks from Central Park, close to the subway, fabulous shops and lots of good restaurants. This is Upper East Side opulence without feeling like you are out of place. We didn't use the room service as it looked very expensive, but there are lots of affordable restaurants in the vicinity. All of the staff were warm and accommodating and incredibly efficient. This is a perfect hotel for families, couples or a girls-weekend getaway.

After the upgrade, the lofty price did not matter. We loved it.
