Great hotel centrally located mid-town

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Cons: Nothing
Location: W. 44th between 5th and 6th Aves. Three blocks to Broadway and Times Square. Fifteen blocks to Central Park.
This hotel has a great staff from the bell hops to the managers. It's location allows you to walk to many destinations.

Nice hotel. Shame about the staff.

Pros: Beautiful d├ęcor and location.
Cons: I know it's a French hotel, but I think the place would benefit from some American, more enthusiastic staff.
Location: Great location a couple of blocks from Grand Central.
This is a beautiful hotel and very well positioned. The room was clean and nicely presented. I was travelling with my daughter and we booked a twin room (hard to find in NYC). Beds were much larger than singles and very comfortable. The one downside was the staff. They all appeared to be French and there was a lot of French speaking going on. I am British and so perhaps don't have the same expectations as a US visitor but I found the staff here aloof and unfriendly. We arrived looking a little the worse for wear after a long journey and got the impression that the staff expected us to be better presented. There are a lot of suit-wearing business travellers in the hotel and they seemed to treat "tourists" as second-rate visitors. We are not exactly poor (we could obviously afford a transatlantic trip and the rates charged by the hotel) but we somehow felt uncomfortable in the public areas and never braved the bar.

Couldn't be better..!

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Grand Central - 5 mins. Times Sq - 5 mins. Central Park 15 mins. Penn Station/MSG - 15 mins. Anywhere else - use subway stations dotted along 42nd.
Close to Times Sq, and on 5th Ave. Perfect location. Although W44th could get busy, you couldn't hear a thing from room (20th floor). Upgraded to Superior room - nice size for NYC. Bed was extremely comfy. Bathroom facilities were fantastic - great shower. View from window was fine - not much you can expect from a city of high rise buildings. All staff from doormen to check-in were polite and courteous. Made our trip even better.

Pros: Facilities and location.
Cons: Staff service
Location: Excellent
The staff is friendly but inefficient and slow. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable. The restaurant is very good but breakfast took us one hour.

Well situated for Times Square

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Had a fabulous stay at the Sofitel New York mainly due to the caring staff. They deal with queries efficiently and courteously. Joy on the front desk made our stay special as did the other staff and the gentleman on concierge is very knowledgable and helpful. Well situated for all of New Yorks main attractions. Can't wait to return.

Loved everything about it!

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel, my first time in this chain. Price was reasonable considering it's closeness to Time Square, area is quite as well. Staff was very friendly, the food in their restaurant was probably the best meal with had in Manhattan and again at a reasonable price. All the rooms are equiped with prime equipment, TV, Radio, comfy beds, etc.
