Excellent city centre hotel

Posted Nov 22, 2014
Pros: Location, comfortable beds, bar.
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Great, central location for many of the major sights.
Spent 7 nights at the Sofitel. Great hotel in a great location. It is close to Times Square (but away from the noise), fifth avenue, Broadway and within walking distance of the Rock centre and Central Park. Also close to subway to get anywhere else. The staff were good and helpful. However, avoid breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The service was slow, the food was warm at best and it was expensive. Use the Red Flame Grill a few doors down (American style diner) which had great food at a third of the price. The hotel bar was good for evening drinks and cocktails. Try to get a room on a high floor to avoid street noise.

Quiet quality mid town hotel

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Very quiet mid town street, new and modern lobby and rooms, friendly staff with warm greetings at every turn. Great stay!

Very nice place to stay

Posted Nov 17, 2014
I enjoyed staying in this hotel. The decor is tasteful and the staff was helpful and friendly. Very comfortable room. Would have liked to have had tea and coffee facilities in my room and it would have been nice to have a set price for breakfast rather than be charged for each item. Overall though it's a great place

Great times square weekend

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Location, beds, quiet.
We struggled to book a Hotel not knowing the area or having visited in the past. Sofitel was a great choice. Its close to times square but down a quieter street so noise was not a factor. Our 27th floor stay was a help as well. Staff was very accomodating and pleasant. We walked everywhere from this location. Shows, restaurants, the square etc. We likely walk more than the norm wherever we go. Bed was super comfy. We had a very nice living room + king suite which might not be in everyones budget but worth the extra if you can do it. A small but important item for us is blackout curtains that really work. These really work. We did not take advantage of the restaurant on site or the fitness facilities so can't comment on those. i guess the bottom line is that if i were going back i'd book here first. We really liked it. Good luck to all of you researching. Hope this helped.

Pros: staff and location
The staff at this hotel was Awesome! Every person we interacted with extraordinarily kind and helpful, sharing great ideas for places to eat and things to check out. We had our 4 year old son with us and they interacted so well with him as well. The room was well appointed and clean. Lots of space. Loved that the hotel is a little bit outside the hustle and bustle of times square, but still extremely accessible.

We have stayed there before, the linens were over the top very comfortable. This time however we were not impressed with the quality of the bed and linens, horrible night sleep the mattress was sinking in the middle. Would have to reconsider going back!

New York week end stay.

Posted Nov 5, 2014
I have stayed here several times over the past five years. I love the hotel and convenient location as well as the breakfast served in the hotel restaurant. This time however, I felt the room rate was very inflated for what was a rather ordinary room. Breakfast was rushed due to a special event scheduled at 10 AM. Unfortunately, my breakfast of bacon and eggs was basically raw. The bread basket was delicious as always. Wait staff was pleasant and welcoming. I will come back again and hope for a better experience, otherwise that will be my last visit.
