Quiet quality mid town hotel

Posted Nov 18, 2014
The hotel exceeded our expectations. Very quiet mid town street, new and modern lobby and rooms, friendly staff with warm greetings at every turn. Great stay!

Very nice place to stay

Posted Nov 17, 2014
I enjoyed staying in this hotel. The decor is tasteful and the staff was helpful and friendly. Very comfortable room. Would have liked to have had tea and coffee facilities in my room and it would have been nice to have a set price for breakfast rather than be charged for each item. Overall though it's a great place

Pros: staff and location
The staff at this hotel was Awesome! Every person we interacted with extraordinarily kind and helpful, sharing great ideas for places to eat and things to check out. We had our 4 year old son with us and they interacted so well with him as well. The room was well appointed and clean. Lots of space. Loved that the hotel is a little bit outside the hustle and bustle of times square, but still extremely accessible.

We have stayed there before, the linens were over the top very comfortable. This time however we were not impressed with the quality of the bed and linens, horrible night sleep the mattress was sinking in the middle. Would have to reconsider going back!

New York week end stay.

Posted Nov 5, 2014
I have stayed here several times over the past five years. I love the hotel and convenient location as well as the breakfast served in the hotel restaurant. This time however, I felt the room rate was very inflated for what was a rather ordinary room. Breakfast was rushed due to a special event scheduled at 10 AM. Unfortunately, my breakfast of bacon and eggs was basically raw. The bread basket was delicious as always. Wait staff was pleasant and welcoming. I will come back again and hope for a better experience, otherwise that will be my last visit.

Perfect in Every Way

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: See above!
Cons: No improvements needed!
Location: The Sofitel is a short walk from the theatre district, Times Square, and all major shopping.
We visit New York often and have stayed at many hotels over the years. As everyone knows, some are better than others, and the charge for the room isn't always indicative of the quality. We just returned from a three-night stay at the Sofitel New York over the Marathon weekend, so the city was packed. If ever a hotel needed an excuse to let things slip a little, this was it. But in fact the Sofitel staff went overboard in ensuring that all was perfect for its guests, from the never-ending pyramid of apples in the lobby to spic-and-span cleanliness everywhere to delicious food in the restaurant. It also may have been the first time ever in New York where we heard no traffic noise, or noise of any kind, in the room!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Must stay here while in NYC

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Service, sophistication, warmth, knowledge of staff, dining at Gabe on site, room size, bedding, bathroom size
Cons: More TV channel selections but we really did not stay in our room. The newspaper choices were good but perhaps adding one or two more choices.
Location: Harvard Club, Yale Club, Fifth Avenue shopping, Times Square, easy access to/from LaGuardia, great location to enjoy the many different areas of NYC
Went for a girls shopping weekend and could not have been happier with the accommodations. Staff were excellent from the start. Called ahead to let them know we would be checking in late and they made sure our room was set. As it turned out, our flight got in very late and we arrived at 1a.m. We were warmly welcomed, offered bottles of Evian and quickly got to our room. The food at Gabe is fabulous for breakfast! A must do while you stay there. Great way to start the day. Concierge recommended a restaurant to us when we asked for an Austrian restaurant, called Seasonale and it was 5 star! Chef had a Michelin star!! Food was great and drinks magnificent. Ask for Taylor when you arrive at Seasonale for an outstanding dining and beverage experience. Front doormen are excellent also at Sofitel also ensuring car service available immediately. We also had an opportunity to see the very nearby Harvard Club and that was wonderful. We highly recommend this luxury european hotel. Very French, super chic. Bravo, Sofitel!! Thanks for all you did to make our stay memorable and everything flawless. Will be back!
