Central hotelPosted Dec 15, 2013
Hotel was close to Times square and so many of NYC main attractions. Clean, large size and really good value for money. The staff were helpful and friendly- I would definitely recommend this hotel

Excellent location in NY.Posted Dec 15, 2013
Pros: Location was excellent for any type of meals and NY city places to see. Price of hotel was very reasonable noting location within NY city.
Cons: Nothing, noting the value for money that comes with this hotel.
Location: As above.
The hotel was very close to the action of many attractions in NY. The room was clean and tidy, and met our needs for accommodation after a busy day out in the city. No frills, but we would stay here again for sure. Hotel staff were helpful and very welcoming.

Fantastic location.Posted Dec 14, 2013
Location: Close to all popular attractions. Turn left out of the hotel and at the end of the road you are at Times Square.
We arrived to quite an unhelpful receptionist (this is believe to be a common opinion from other feedback) despite the poor customer service you are a stones throw from Times Square and a short walk to the Rockefeller centre. The downside..... When we arrived we were checked into room 407, only to find a fan of some sorts(from another building) churning away constantly building up to regular crosendo's. The next morning we mentioned this to the not so helpful receptionist to be told that we were not the only ones to complain and all he could do would be to move our rooms, that was fine, however what he forgot to say was that if we didn't do it then we would have to wait until the next day! The next day after another night of being kept awake a really helpfully receptionist moved our rooms to one at the front with no fan. The decor could do with updating however the rooms were clean and tidy. No way of making a hot drinks but there is a few deli's next door where we often stopped to get drinks and pick up breakfast. There is currently some building scaffolding outside the hotel but this did not seem to effect us. I know my review may seem negative but please do not let this put you off booking, the reviews helped me be prepared for the no frills hotel. Despite the floors I would go back and stay at hotel st James, the location over rules any negatives!

Smack in the middle of the theater districtPosted Dec 13, 2013
Cons: A coffee maker in the room would be very nice. If not in the room, coffee available in the lobby would make a big difference.
The location for theater goers cant be beat. The hotel is on the same block as the Lyceum theater where we saw A Night With Janis Joplin and 2 short blocks to Time Square. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful of any hotel Ive stayed at. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The only down side is the whirring mechanical noise that starts and stops 24 hours. We heard it coming from the air shaft outside our window at night. It didnt bother me much, but did keep my wife up some. If youre a light sleeper, it may bother you.

Not as nice as I thought.Posted Dec 12, 2013
Pros: I liked the location and the staff were friendly.
Cons: The overall appearence needed a face lift.
Location: Radio City, Rockefeller Center, St Patrick's Cathedral, Saks fifth Ave, Lord and Taylor were all of walking distance from the hotel.
When I looked on line at this hotel, it looked pretty good. To my dissapointment, it wasn't at all like the pictures. First of all we got on the elevator and it was very small and all the walls were covered with what looked like blankets ( I guess getting ready for renovations). The hallways wer very old and run down and needed to be painted. When we got to our room it was clean but very run down. Walls were very old and bed linens looked like they had been washed to many times and very cheap looking. The good side of this hotel is the location. It was of walking distance to Radio City, Rockefeller Center and all the major stores on Fifth Ave. I wish they would put a little money into this place because it's in a great location.

Great Location close to Times SquarePosted Dec 12, 2013
The location and price is the reason to stay here. Our room was small but functional. Even on the 10th floor the noise from the street was significant. The bed was comfortable and the bath room small but new. The blinds were poor and didn't keep out the light. Less than a block to Times Square!

Ok stayPosted Dec 12, 2013
Pros: The only reason I would recommend this hotel is for it's affordability and location. I would be sure to emphasize the uncomfortable beds.
Location: Great location, central to everything in midtown.
This hotel was a value for the price and location, however I felt like I was roughing it. I loved Joey at the front desk and the hotel could not ask for a better person to handle their guests. He was cheerful, engaging and recommended a great Turkish restaurant just down the block. The room was very small which is fine however the bed was lousy. The room was very clean but the elevators were not kept. This is an old hotel with much old world charm if you take the time to appreciate it. I would have liked coffee in the lobby and a better bed.

Clean and comfortable. Could do with a kettle in the room. Good position for theatre district and shopping.
