“Good Things Can Come In Small Packages”

The room was small, but we knew that going in to the trip. The room was very well decorated and clean. Even though it was small the hotel does a good job of utilizing the space that they have in each room. I would recommend paying the little extra to upgrade to a slightly larger room. We got the upgrade and everything was great, but I can't imagine going any smaller than the room we had. Enough with the size, now down to the important stuff, because you are going to New York, and there is so much to do, you know you aren't just going to be sitting in your room. Staff was great and were more than happy to direct us to local spots within walking distance. The atmosphere was great! Really, what other hotel are you going to hear Interpol playing in your elevator? Great location in Midtown. Within walking distance to Central Park, 5th Avenue, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and much more. Great experience. Nothing negative to say.

“Love The Hudson !!”

I was looking for a hotel in NYC , for 2 nights. Expedia had a great deal at the Hudson. I had stayed there a few years ago. Glad to return , I knew what to expect. Rooms are small, but very nice. Great location, close to subway. The Hudson is a smart place to stay and I would be glad to stay again.

“Bad Experience”

I've stayed at the Hudson before, but it has become an awful experience. The only redeeming qualities of the hotel are location and a great club scene, if you're in to that. The hotel is dark and dreary, the service nonchalant and the rooms are tiny and poorly furnished. I upgraded from a deluxe to a superior room and I still felt like I was sleeping in a closet. Did I also mention that there is no room service? According to the front desk, they also have a significant lag time between when Expedia reservations are made and the reservations show up in the hotel's system. I waited at check-in for 20 minutes while they sorted out my reservation! This is my last stay at the Hudson.

Area recommendations

I love staying along Central Park South. The Helmsley Park Lane and Jumeirah Essex House both are nice hotels that are reasonably priced for the location. You can also trade up to the Ritz Carlton, or some of the more expensive options if you want to splurge. It's nice to be around the soothing effects of Central Park, be in close proximity to great shopping and restaurants and still be a reasonable cab ride away to any business you have in midtown Manhattan.

“This place is terrible”

Hey, do you like feeling cramped? You can't get out of the shower without tripping on the toilet. You get out of bed and your head hits the TV. The room is too dark to get dressed or put on make up. Your knees hit the wall when you sit of the toilet. No coffee in the room or the lobby. If you are overweight or over 6 feet tall don't stay here; you won't be able to use the bathroom. The street entrance is not marked. The lobby and common areas are so dark you think it is night time all the time. I would only stay at this hotel again if it was free and I was drunk and I didn't care how bruised my head and knees were.

“Trendy bars, but rooms are beyond small!”

We had a standard double room and it was by far the SMALLEST room I have ever stayed in and I have been to Europe twice. It was not that clean either and there was even a hole in the wall to make room for the door to open. There is not a deadbolt on the doors which made me a little nervous. The bars are beautiful and the drinks delicious, but I would never, ever stay here again, especially for the price.

“Hudson Hotel was wonderful”

Don't expect a huge room. Ours was approx 200-250 sq ft. It was very cozy and decorated in a mod-ish type way. Great for young couples who are just using it to lounge and spend their time mostly out on the town. Rooms were very clean and staff was very helpful. We had a great honeymoon there.

Area recommendations

East Side- gets you in the mix of multicultural cuisine and hole in the wall shops. Who needs to eat at a TGI Fridays or McDonalds in Time Square? blech

When to go

most romantic time.......between Oct 15 and Nov 15. Weather is cool and comfortable when walking everywhere.

Getting around

Columbus Circle, a central hub for all the subways, is right across the street. You will have no problem getting to major places. Download the iTrans NYC app. With addresses, the subway routes will be a piece of cake for most places.

What to pack

Pack light. You can't be traversing and packing this small room with several large luggage bags. If your going for a week, pack mostly t-shirts, 1 pair jeans, 1 pair slacks., 2 dress shirts, 1 sports coat, 2 shoes (dress/tennis), long johns, coat,cap,scarf (if it's cold), . Women, couple of light dresses, couple of leggings, coat, cap, scarf (if it's cold), 1 heels, 1 boots, flats/tennis, Etc,etc,etc...just don't bring the whole boudoir if yu know what i mean :)

Balthazars - be prepared to spend 75-120 $ per coouple. Incredible food.

“Staying in a Shoebox”

This hotel offers the smallest rooms I have seen since a YMCA I once got stuck in some 40 years ago in NYC. also, it was very dark everywhere!
