Close to Columbus Circle, Chic & Affordable

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: Proximity to South Central Park.
Cons: In-room coffee makers. Counters in the bathrooms. Better attention from wait-staff in the restaurant.
Location: I was there for business (at Columbus Circle), but Central Park, Lincoln Center, and Broadway are near by.
I had a nice room which was comfortable for sleeping. There was no coffee maker in the room. One could order room service ($4 for 12 oz, $5 for 16 oz, + 18% delivery + tip). Room service begins at 5AM, but the Starbucks down the street also opens at 5AM. There was NO counter space in the bathroom for setting out and applying cosmetics (barely enough for brushing teeth!), and the dim fluorescent lighting throughout the room gave poor illumination for make-up application. I sat in the Common (restaurant) for several minutes, and made eye contact with the wait staff several times, but was not approached for service.

Do not trust picture s of this hotel. Rooms are like a cage. Very small for the price . I am very disapointment. I am not sure if I ever can trust Expidia any more.

Disaster

Posted Oct 14, 2014
I would not recommend this hotel. We had a reservation, but the room was not available for us until 2 AM! That's 2 in the morning. They apparently overbooked rooms, so I have no confidence that a reservation means anything here. The staff was running around trying to deal with all of the disappointed people, but they would disappear for half hour at a time, not give us updates, and the updates were different depending on who you spoke to. They even turned away a couple from London who had a reservation because they didn't have a room for them. Imagine flying to NYC from London only to hear the reservation you had for a room couldn't be honored. Once we finally got into the room, the situation only slightly improved. Room service was expensive; there was no remote control for the TV; and the water in our room went our for an hour or so, so we couldn't wash, flush, or shower.

Great location, great staff, claustrophobic rooms

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Make the rooms adequate for an adult to sleep in, take a shower and use the toilet.
Location: Great
The Reception staff is extremely friendly and efficient. Location is great. But the rooms are ridiculously sized (particularly the bathrooms!) even for Manhattan and even for one person. It felt like sleeping in a train cabin...

Great experience

Posted Oct 12, 2014
It was a great hotel, friendly staff and close to iconic New York locations. Only a 2 minute walk to Columbus circle and Central Park. 10 minutes by foot to 5th Avenue shops and Times Square. Room is serviced daily and concierge was great at recommending places to see and restaurants to dine at. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location and something different

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Location was good, hotel and rooms clean and tidy with nice decor. Friendly staff and a very reasonably sized room for NYC.
Cons: The resort fee needs to be included in the booking price. Yes, I know it's an American thing but it's always a bit of a bitter pill at the end.
Location: Central Park 5 mins walk. Times Square 15 mins. Local diners just round the corner. Subway straight down to Battery Park for tourist hotspots.
Impressive entrance up to the equally impressive lobby. Great decor and something different from a usual chain hotel. Staff were excellent and the room more than comfortable. We didn't get a chance to use the bars or terrace but they looked very welcoming. Room wasn't as small as I was expecting considering it is NYC. Great location, close to Columbus subway. Two good diners across the road and of course the whole of Manhatten on the doorstep. Check-out was quick and efficient and baggage storage was secure and straightforward. My only gripe.... And it's a general American hotel thing...... Can we have the 'resort fee' included in the overall price when booking please! Costs at check-out when you've used what I was told was free is a bit cheeky! Wifi and baggage storage is 'free' but included in the 'resort fee.'

Good location bad hotel

Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: The fun bar, but not everyone would like it.
Cons: Bedrooms dreadful. Complete refurb required.
Location: Didn't stay. Moved to another hotel.
My daughters 21st. We arrived to see extensive exterior scaffolding. Lovely reception area. This may be boutique hotel by New York standards but it was HUGE. Sports bar massive Televisions and too many private functions going on so we were not able to access any other bars. The bedrooms are old and grubby. Our bath had chunks out of it and this was a superior room. The rooms are Teeny. Some have peekaboo showers, read you can watch each other shower, fine if a couple not so fine if you Are with a friend!! Toilets behind a net curtain, why perhaps I am old fashioned but I do not want to hear anyone on the loo????? Not boutique and not luxurious. This would be fun if all bars were open if you wanted party time and you didn't care where you slept. But the price of this place does not reflect this.

Good location, right by Central Park.

Hotel was great, it was quite dark though which is obviously the look they are going for.. Rooms were small but nice, I was a bit shocked at first but you get used to it after a couple of days. Hotel staff were so casual and laid back it was sometimes to differentiate guests from staff, especially in restaurant area in the evenings.

The woman that checked us in was very friendly, everyone at the front desk was. The bar area in the evening was inviting and cozy. We stayed for an anniversary weekend, we would stay again!
