Manhattan Standard

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: The staff maintain a nice atmosphere in the hotel and they keep it clean and well maintained. Doormen were friendly and attentive.
Cons: I'm not convinced the value is there for this hotel. We had family staying at a comparable level hotel at same price and their room was enormous.
The hotel delivers what you should expect for a "name" hotel brand in Manhattan in terms of amenities. The location is excellent - just across the street from Central Park - and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is an historic building which is pretty cool but it means the rooms are cramped with small bathrooms, closets, etc. It wasn't easy for two people to move around the room at the same time. They have a good sized gym with clean, quality although not top end equipment.

Dear Bob, Thank you for your recent stay with us in New York, and for your valuable feedback. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed friendly, attentive service and the regal ambience of our classic New York City hotel. We apologize that your room was not as spacious as you had hoped. On the bright side, our hotel features a variety of rooms and suites to accommodate your personal needs. We think that you might really enjoy the traditional New York pied-a-terre experience of one of our larger suites. Should you choose to stay with us again, be sure to check our website for our latest offers to maximize overall value. Thanks again—we look forward to the chance to serve you again soon.

Great hotel location

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The hotel was beautiful inside and the food in the restaurant was top quality. Especially recommend the eggs benedict for breakfast.
Cons: Double beds are quite small. Made errors on our check out bill twice!
Location: Adjacent to Central Park. Bike rental available locally.
Great hotel in a very central location within walking distance of many tourist attractions including Radio City, NBC, Columbus Circle and Time Square.

Terrible compared to comparable others

Posted Sep 15, 2014
The first room I got booked into the AC didn't work properly, nor did the TV. I got moved to another room. They gave me $100 food and drink voucher, which doesn't go far, as a breakfast will cost you $50. The second room the AC didn't work again. They sent an engineer. Then the safe battery went dead, and even after calling 4 times to have it replaced, they never did it. The docking station did not work properly. The gym was quite nice, but besides that, for other competitors of similar price, you will get a hotel room that actually functions like its meant to. You cannot control the room lights from your bedside. You have to get up and turn them off at various points in the room (they all turn on when you enter, but there is no single switch for all of them). Extremely disappointed and I will not be staying at JW Marriott again. Especially since I have stayed at several other competing hotels in the area, and I have never had these problems anywhere else.

The location is great, but the shower never worked

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: Shower temperature
Location: Central Park, Columbus Circle
The hotel is very nice and well located, but we stayed in a suite for 6 nights and every day we had problems with the shower (no hot water). They sent twise a man to repair but the next shower was cold.
