Beautiful place , central to everythng.

Pros: Location location location
Cons: I would really have appreciated a robe.
Location: Are you kidding? on Central Park South?!?!?! EVERYTHING is nearby!
My trip was just an overnight to meet with friends. The Essex was simple to get to from Penn Station. We were fortunate to have the first decent weather in months, and so we walked across the street and through Central Park to get to the Upper West Side for our restaurant. Our evening was at Lincoln Center, again, just a short walk away from the Essex. and getting back to Penn Station was easy as well. In the hotel, my only chagrin was to find no robes ( I had packed expecting there would be one.), and no ice machine. but the front desk was ever-so-obliging to bring me ice at 2 AM. I thought that was very decent of them. although, the fellow who brought it did not look too happy. My check-in experience was terrific. It was a Saturday, but I had no difficulty when I suggested they place both of my friends on the same floor with me.. We had cocktails in the bar, again prompt and courteous. I had a lovely stay!

My kids love, because the can walk and enjoy Central Park. The staff are so nice. When I come back definitive I am going to choose this hotel.

Our Go To Hotel in NYC

Very nice overnight stay, as always. Waited a long time for a bucket of ice, and for my vehicle to be brought up, but otherwise the hotel is very well run, the staff is friendly, the rooms are nice size and clean and the location is great!

Great Location, helpful staff and good bar!

Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: The location, comfort, the helpfulness of the staff and the bar.
Cons: Free internet charge in rooms - it was free in the lobby!
Location: Across the street from SW corner of Central Park. Close to Columbus Circle, Carnegie Hall and Subway.
Perfect location for fans of Central Park and Midtown Manhattan. This was our sixth visit to NYC and the best hotel we have stayed in so far. Room very comfortable and quiet. Bar was stocked with a good range of beer and wine and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Only downside was daily charge of 16.95 per day for use of internet in room. Would recommend for couples.

Up-scale hotel at the edge of Central Park

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The hotel was clean, modern, centrally located, with friendly & professional staff.
Cons: Label how to get ice in the rooms. It wasn't until day 3 that we learned housekeeping will bring you the ice. Great service, but we did not know.
Location: Several close subway stops, or a close walk to The Met, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Times Square, The Plaza shops, Columbus Circle, Broadway.
We stayed in early March 2014 and had a great stay! From the bellman who met your cab, to the Front Desk, and the Security Guard at the elevators, all of the staff was very nice and professional. The hotel is very clean & modern, and a great location for a NYC vacation. The hotel is located just a short walk from several subway stops, simple restaurants, and local 24 hour markets that offer everything! You can't beat the location right across the street from Central Park for walks anytime of the day.

Understated elegance. Stunning lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Classy room decor. Bathroom had gorgeous pedestal bowl sink and outstanding lighting. Beautiful bar with fireplace at one end and views of Central Park at the other. HIGHLY recommend this hotel in NYC.

Small but luxurious room overlooking central park

Posted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Location, small but elegant room.
Location: On Central Park South, definitely worth paying for a park-side room.
Enjoyed our room - beautifully appointed, but on the small side. That's ok, if you're in New York City, you should not be in your room! Staff very friendly. Hope to stay again sometime soon.
