I was very skeptical about staying in a hotel bcuz I never stayed in one b4 but the hotel staff was inviting and the room were like a home away from home

The hotel can be rated as 'good value for money'. Nice, quiet and very conveniently located. Shuttles running to the airport every hour.

The carpeting was worn and the bed was less than comfortable. Coffee at breakfast was delicious, tho.

Not made clear it needed phone call to get shuttle bus to pick up from JFK. Waited ages while all the other hotel shuttles came and left regularly (including other 2 star chains). Hotel itself right on freeway so constant noise. Bed had mattress and clean sheets so OK for brief overnight stay. Felt a bit neglected - few broken things in room - including deadbolt on door, so not as secure as would have liked. Would not want to stay for more than a few hours. For a few pounds more there are probably better options from other chains serving JFK.

The hotel facility is nothing special, but it is conveniently close to JFK. What makes this hotel special is the night staff - particularly the manager. They are fantastic. They really went over and above to make sure my son's stay was comfortable; and, because he arrived on a red eye at 2 am (after the regular hotel shuttle had stopped for the night and when cabs are hardest to find and the most expensive) they personally arranged for his transportation - and the actually followed through on what they said. I've stayed at 5 star hotels that would not have provided the care and attention the folks at La Quinta did. I'm really grateful and can't thank them enough.
