Great location, I was racing at Citifield and it was the most reasonably priced hotel withing 10miles. Also very close to luagardia. Beds were very comfortable, floors weren't as clean as I would have liked.

Some problems

Before booking, I called to the hotel and they confirmed 24 hour shuttle from/to JFK airport. However, it turned out that in reality you must take air train to the "Federal Circle" station, and the shuttle will pick you up there only. I expected to be picked up at the terminal. Moreover, the shuttle has no "La Quinta" ad, and I could get the shuttle thanks to a driver from another hotel only. So, if you plan to take shuttle from airport to hotel, choose another hotel. The check-in clerk could not find me for a long time claiming "nothing in the system" though the bank card had been already charged. Too much nerves for this hotel.

Cons: Airport transportation is every hour. I would suggest to reduce to every 30 minutes.
Too expensive for the quality. Because they only provide airport transportation every hour, I had to go to the airport too early.

Cheap pet friendly hotel

Stayed with my dog and had no issues at all, most of the staff are very friendly (with some exceptions). It's near the airport with a good shuttle service on a quiet residential area. Breakfast has the basics, it's OK.

The check in was not as expected. I was told before my arrival that if my flight arrived late and I may not reach the shuttle in time before it stopped running I could take a taxi and give receipt to front desk for reimbursement. When I arrived, it was near midnight and I was concerned I may miss shuttle. The front desk attendant gave me a hard time about the taxi receipt. I don't mind that I should have taken the shuttle, but the message should be clear as when you arrive near midnight, every minute delay causes concern.

I generally enjoyed my stay. However, I found the lighting in the room to a little dim. Also the channel guide provided did not coincide with the channels. But I liked the space in the room and the staff was courteous.

Great hotel, cool staff esp the African American young lady @ check in. Great breakfast, clean room. Only down side was smoking outside. But overall would stay again
