Great Hotel in a great location!

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Service, location, price, cleanliness
Cons: Fans in bathrooms, water in room first nt., q-tips etc. in bathroom
Location: Broadway theatres, shopping, restaurants, Empire State building, High Line
We stayed here for a second time and really enjoyed the experience. The front desk staff were great on check in and really went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is centrally located which is fabulous if you love to walk to Time Square, Broadway for a show, shops and restaurants all along the way down to Tribeca and Soho. We even walked the High Line in January!

Mostly giod

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Our room was EXTREMELY loud pertaining to street noise etc. We were on 8th floor but street noise was as if we were on the street. Didn't realize how abnormal this was until we checked into another hotel on our final night in NY- and it was almost silent. Affiliate was nice and clean, but loud

Nice spacious, well appointed rooms

Posted Jan 24, 2015
Pros: Spacious and well appointed rooms
Cons: Uncomfortably small bathrooms and shower
Location: Very close to Penn Station
The rooms for me and my colleagues were surprisingly spacious and well appointed for the price in mid-town Manhattan. The hotel staff was especially friendly and considerate. Check in and out was very fast and efficient. The only negative was the small size of the bathroom. Frankly it was the smallest bathroom and shower than any other hotel in NYC that I've experienced. But even with that factor, I would still recommend the hotel.

Very nice hotel in general, room needs updating.

The hotel lobby is very stylish and gives a premium feel but this can't be said for the rooms. The chest of drawers were scratched, worn & colour faded. The desk was much the same too not to mention one of the legs on the desk was broken. The window latch was also broken and couldn't open or close properly so the noises from the busy city was as loud inside as it was outside. Ear plugs were provided by the hotel! The bedside lights was clipped to the bed head which was very unstable when you try to adjust the light to read. The fittings in the bathroom shake and wobble, the shower curtain hardly holds the water back and you walk out of the shower into a foot bath which you have to then mop up! The rooms are a good size and there's a good working fridge in there. The TV is good and lots of channels to choose from.

Great value for the price and LOCATION!

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: location, price, staff, nice lobby, rooms ok
Cons: pipes
I go to NYC regularly and unless you can afford to stay at the Four Seasons, it's pretty hard to find an affordable hotel in the city that's halfway decent. So far Affinia Manhattan has been the best value-priced hotel I've been to and would definitely stay there again and even recommend it to friends and family. However, a few minor negatives. Because it's in the center of practically everything (Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, shopping in Herald Square etc), it's a little noisy and it attracts the loud, rambunctious college crowd. However the hotel staff is quick to throw out anyone who's too out of hand. Also the heating sometimes makes noises. Otherwise, the hotel is pretty nice, the staff incredibly helpful/friendly and again, it's right in the center of Manhattan and right by 3 of the major subway stations so very easy to get around everywhere. Walking distance to many attractions, shopping and restaurants/eateries.

Mid Town Hotel

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Cenral location and good for price. Will stay again at next trip to New York.
Cons: Windows to fit so no draughts - essential in winter [we went January]
Location: 2 block from Macy's, 3 blocks from Empire State, right across from Penn Station. Subway to anywhere. Keep walking up Avenue and meet Broadway/Times Sq
Stayed for 7 days. Room/bed comfortable. Heating, when we found thermostat, was good. Although windows [double glazed] do not fit and allow a draught as does the air conditioning unit. Hotel built late 20's so has some art-deco styling, which is nice. Staff very helpful, from Curtis when we arrived at 4am, and the day reception and concierge staff. Had a De-Luxe room [upgraded on arrival] which was ideal and would recommend that, if you can stretch, get. Didn’t try restaurant with hotel but went to Tick-Tock Diner next to the Wyndham Hotel behind Penn Station, on corner of 34th St and 8th Avenue. Real treat for food and decor.

Hotel looks nothing like the advertised photos.

The rooms are extremely small and the furniture is extremely dated. The cable kept freezing, the closet door was hanging off of the hinges. It felt like I was staying at someone's house and not a hotel.
