Moderate

I was very disappointed- I assumed I was getting a view since all the images showed rooms with amazing views. I got the back of the building which was dark. The room was small and cramped without a desk or anything. The bathroom had no shelving adequate enough to hold my belongs. The tub was dirty and the sink didn't look so great either. I don't feel like I got any great deal whatsoever. The one plus was the bed and the bedding. Incredibly comfortable. The hotel staff was wonderful. I did call the front desk about a possible missing iPhone and my message was never returned. The lobby is lovey hip and fun. With so many hotels in NYC I'm not sure I would return.

Excellent option in NYC

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Quiet, small, convenient
This is an excellent property in NY. My particular room was outstanding, with a balcony and plenty of space. The wifi is very strong (also free in my case), and their location between two subway stations makes it a convenient hop further downtown. I ate in one of the two restaurants on-site (Serafina) which was so-so, not especially good value for the quality of food. There are great restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel though, and some very good cafes/coffee places close by. Try Mille Feuille, just across the street on Broadway. I really liked the small size of the property and that it feels somewhat tucked away from the madding crowds. The Upper West Side is generally a quieter part of town. I had no issues with room noise at all. I would absolutely not hesitate to book in here again and, in fact, am looking forward to my return to the property. It strikes just the right balance of value, amenities, location and quality.

in the heart of the West Side

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Loved our room, facing Broadway with a large window
Cons: Music was a little too loud in the lobby when we sat there for a cup of coffee at the bar
Location: excellent - close to Lincoln Center, movie theaters, all kinds of restaurants, shopping and Carnegie Center
We had stayed at NYLO (aka On The Ave) before and it was interesting to see the changes especially to the lobby, bar, louder music, different seating arrangements

One of the best affordable hotels in NYC.

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: Beautiful modern decor, the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, and central air/heat.
Cons: Minimal cleanliness issues in the hallways and hairs here and there in some of the rooms.
Location: Easy access to subway. Westside Market grocery accross the street open 24h a day. 24h CVS across street. Starbucks two blocks away. Easy crosstown.
Beautiful hotel, very nicely remodeled (or possibly new) with central air/heat (RARE in NYC), hard wood floors, and modern decor. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (and I have a tempurpedic). There were minimal cleanliness issues (hair here and there in one room but the other rooms were pretty spottless). Free waters in the room. Hotel staff are outstanding. I had noise issues the night before an interview with the room next door being very loud, and received a complimentary upgrade to the Penthouse suite which was amazing and totally silent. The entire hotel is amazingly quiet for NYC, as almost all the rooms face 77th and not Broadway, so there is minimal to no traffic, and the hotel is very well insulated.

Fantastic Hotel in a Great Location

Posted Mar 20, 2015
We had a lovely stay at the NYLO, friendly staff especially Charles and Roberto on the bar they were fab. Reception and the concierge very helpful. The room was immaculate with toiletries and coffee refreshed daily. The hotel was in a great location on the upper west side, close to Central Park and the Natural History Museum and close to the subway station. The New Wave Cafe down the street did great breakfast and the Kasbah BBQ and Grill closeby did the best steak ive ever eaten, Levain bakery a few blocks away did most fantastic cookies and Grays Papaya had delicious hot dogs and papaya juice. Lots of nice shops near the hotel and a pharmacy and grocery store directly opposite. The hotel has 2 restaurants an italian and a chinese, we ate at both and both were exceptional. In particular the chinese Redfarm, we particularly enjoyed the toilet in the restaurant with heated seat and water cleansing. The hotel had a lovely roof terrace with great views over the city, a nice bar area and lobby. I would highly recommend the hotel and couldnt fault it, we would love to come and stay again.

Brilliant Location

Posted Mar 17, 2015
After looking at hundreds of hotels in NYC we decided on Nylo and wasn't disappointed. Brilliant location on upper west side off Broadway and very close to Central Park. The room was clean and warm, yes it was small ( but so is every room in NYC) and the bed was gigantic and very comfy. The hotel had a chic feel with a jazz band playing on Monday night we were there. Perfect to come back to after a long day of site seeing. Would visit again!
